Found a nice big ant colony in the Ma-le'l North Dunes.
While clearing part of the McKay Community Forest of invasive holly and cotoneaster, I found a nice colony of turquoise elfcup (Chlorociboria aeruginosa). In addition to the cool fruiting bodies it stains the wood a blue-green color permanently and used by woodcarvers for centuries #FungiFriends 🍄📷

Cleanup of trash, buried abandoned camps, and lots of ducks along the Eel River yesterday. Thanks to the volunteers and city of Eureka for providing some tools and trash bins.
This is huge. This week the Yurok Tribe and state agencies announced completion of the largest land back project in California history. 14,968 acres conveyed by the WRC to the Yurok Tribe marked the final step in a more than two-decade long, 47,097-acre (73-square-mile), $56 million land transfer.
