Got an Ayn Thor, couple hours of work later and OpenHill4 now runs on Android. Due to using SDL3 and already supporting GLES and ARM64 this was very easy to do. No touch controls, but I’m sure I could add some pretty easily

Update on the #iPod hacking stuff - I also got a port of Peanut-GB running on the iPod nano 7th generation! It is full speed, so it’s very much playable. Screen is so tiny so I’m not sure why you *would* play it like this, but it works

In other non-SH4 related stuff - got a port of AGNES running on the #iPod nano 7th generation using the recently released NanoApps SDK. Slow, no sound, and definitely very buggy, but it was surprisingly straightforward to get going

Took a few small changes, but I got my Silent Hill 4 C/C++ reimplementation up and running on ARM MacOS! Looks and runs perfectly, just like it does on Windows x86-64. So that is Linux x86-64, Windows x86-64, and now MacOS ARM and x86-64 (under Rosetta) all working perfectly. #SilentHill

OpenHill4, a C/C++ reimplementation of Silent Hill 4: The Room, running natively on MacOS under ARM.

Progress on the renderer for my SH4 reimplementation, it now supports anti-aliasing, has a draw order which matches the original game, and the shaders now support alpha blending. It is getting very close to the original game, at least for the apartment

A toy project I've been working on for the past few months - a modern, 64-bit multiplatform rewrite/reimplementation of Silent Hill 4! All that really works at this point are the Konami/warning screens on startup, text + image rendering, and a bit of main menu, but it's a start!

🧵 I'd like to announce a new #SilentHill 4 project I've been working on for the past few months on and off. There have been a lot of fixes made by both the community and GOG, but there are still a lot of things that SH4 PC is missing...

Silent Hill 4 in ultrawide 5120x1440, 32:9 goodness with a wider FOV to fit this wide aspect ratio. it looks so good :') now to figure out how to fix the laughably stretched GUI and text which does *not* look good

Inside of em_test.bin, there is an early version of Henry's apartment at night. While it is not *too* different, the photos on the wall are just blank, the orange save book is gone, and there are photos of what I presume are members of Team Silent in place of the original photos

I should be sleeping but I just found an early version of a part of Subway world deep in the SH4 files that, as far as I can tell, no one else has managed to uncover. The change/ticket machines are in a different place, the roof is different, there are no pillars at all, among other differences

New feature in the next major randomizer version (which is coming very soon, I promise!): Twitch CrowdControl support. I've tried to come up with a bunch of effects, ranging from simple to complicated. I still need to do a few things (like make the text smaller) but it is working well!

I also will be putting out a model tool soon that can go from Silent Hill 4 —> GLTF, and perhaps more interestingly, GLTF —> SH4. Custom rigged models should be fun! I’ve always wanted to add more player models to the randomizer but only a few models in SH4 are even usable as a player model

After having played a million horror games over my lifetime, I started working on my own last year. Mostly just toying around at first, this year it really started to kind of become serious as a story, art style, and game mechanics started to actually come together and I’m committed to finishing it

since I am new here and haven’t talked about this yet: I make the Silent Hill 4 Randomizer mod (github.com/HunterStanto...) and am a big fan of modding horror games in general. I’ll be posting from time to time about game modding, cybersecurity, game dev, and more stuff like that #silenthill
