Hungry for Sound. MUSIC, Art, Film, Photography and often found spinning small shiny 💿 No US politics ⛔️

Time for some ‘Hyper-Dimensional Expansion Beam’ with King Shabaka, Danalogue and Betamax otherwise known as The Comet is Coming. (2022, Hi-Res DL). Nothing quite like this, and incredible live too. Pushing jazz boundaries in new directions … 💥

The workhorse cans, Bose QC 45. Just replaced the ear pads after 3 years heavy use. Though they are plastic(y) all over, they’ve taken all weathers, drops, bag rumbling and performed very well. Better built than I first thought, and sound is decent enough, active noise dampening v.good too 🎧

Currently visiting other worlds, Rypdal, Vitous, DeJohnette (1978, Tidal). Drumming masterclass here from Jack just for starters, and the psychedelic feel runs throughout, lifting everything up and placing it somewhere else. Love it 😊

Stunning album, Robert Fripp String Quintet, 'The Bridge Between' (1994, Tidal). Some wonderful melodic passages here and a really tasteful album mixing a prog/classical approach in places. A must listen ... 😎

Marconi Union and Jay Wobble, 'Anomic' (2013, Tidal). Another classy timeless piece from the lads in partnership here. Bass lines are deep and everywhere and adds a new dimension to the electronic signature sound of MU 😎

Recommended by Pete Pardo, Smoke, with ‘Everything’ (1973, Tidal). Just re-released again. ‘Proto acid-jazz’ perhaps, or Psychedelic Jazz-Rock. Either way, interesting and fun album, and a great way into the day 😎

'Odyssey', this time it's the soundtrack from Ludwig Göransson (2026, Tidal, Atmos). Atmosphere abounds here, it really does do what it needs to. The Atmos version on headphones gives a bit more separation to the audio which is useful, but will need to watch (and listen) again 😎. Very good indeed!

Alex Anthony Faide, ‘Particles of the Infinite’ (2022, CD). Amazing album comprising of nine Crimson inspired pieces, taken into new territories. Outstanding release and likely a lot of Crim Heads will enjoy this as much as I do 😎

Time for the Byrd to fly, ‘Electric Byrd’ (1970, CD). Love this album. I think it’s way more interesting than some of his later more funk orientated output. Hit a sweet spot right here for me 😎

Back in again, just phenomenal this recording/set. Terje Rypdal ‘Odyssey, in Studio & in Concert’ (1975, 2012). Insanely good, how on earth anyone thought leaving tracks out such as ‘Rolling Stone’ was a good idea beyond me. Complete double album is essential. The live additions round this off 😍

DL copy of this one, PKT, and ‘NYC’ (2026, Bandcamp). Percy Jones, Kenny Grohowski and Tim Motzer, just no Alex Skolnick this time around, but as a trio this is wonderful stuff. Superb improvisation delivered live. Loving it 🥰
