We have people here to service the heat pumps and I do not think tradies before 9am should be legal.

Went to the nurse clinic in hope of catching a minor annoyance before it turns into a big hassle. She had it in her head I was there for a medication review and was also very keen to weigh me. I had to use my staunch voice (and was very glad I had J there for support).
Does anyone in Ōtautahi have a design-and-build bathroom company they can recommend? Our manky 1990s bathrooms need a rip-it-out-and-start-again level update. We need someone who can walk us through the options and then make stuff happen.
I think sleet is the worst of all the weathers. All the downsides of snow and none of the wonder.
Today Pekapeka discovered helping*Mummy work. Walking on the keyboard and adding 20 pages to my document, knocking things off the desk, and standing on my shoulder with his tail occupying most of my field of vision.
Could everyone think good thoughts for F who has an interview this afternoon for a part-time job that, combined with his other jobs, would get him off the dole and maybe even let him save towards studying overseas in a year or two.
Just happened to be looking out the window when I saw someone going into our mailbox “So sorry, I thought we knew the people who live here. Doesn’t Dave live here?” Feeling ever so slightly rattled now.
The only thing that would have persuaded me to have more babies, would have been if the first two were a bit less intense. I stopped because that was the number of kids I could be a halfway decent parent to and all the money in the world couldn’t change that.
I’m reacting to something and my eyes have been swollen and uncomfortable all day. I had a few bouts of angioedema before I changed my blood pressure meds, and while this is milder, it looks and feels pretty similar. Something of a bummer on what has otherwise been a very nice day.
Waking up earlier on a Saturday than I do during the week is absolute bullshit.
Got water in my eye in the shower and it’s still a bit red and sore so I’m not going to risk angering it with eyeshadow. Guess that makes getting ready a bit faster at least.
We’re going to the ballet tonight, so I’m trying to decide if a shower will reset me so I feel all fresh and nice, or drain the last scraps of energy from me. Could go either way.
Was RNZ talking about protests/riots or about abortion this morning? Those things were in my dreams just before I woke (fwiw in my dreams both my partner and the public health system were fantastically supportive so these were not disturbing things to have in my head)
When you email a company about a delayed parcel and no one replies but your parcel is suddenly moving rather quickly.
With all the world’s technological advances, why can’t we make a cardboard box with a tear-off strip that actually tears off like it is meant to? You can keep your AI super computers, just give me mundane shit that works right.
Current mood. J (preparing to head out to his evening class): Bye. I love you. Me (pouting on the sofa): I hate everything…except you.
Bedtimes. I was so judgy about wee kids being out at night. But if you put my oldest to bed before 10pm he’d be up crying every hour or two, put him down after and you had a baby who was happy all evening then slept a four hour stretch.
Hey parents of bsky: What are some theories of parenting you were very confident in right up until you had your own kids?
True innovation ys yn the HEART. For a bettir future we need poetrye, creativitye, historical studye, love of language, bold dialogues, new storyes, & intellectual curiositye. Fund higher educacioun yn the HEART disciplines: H umanityes E thiques A rtes R hetorique & the crafte of T eachinge
Hipkins really needs to go before he paints the Labour Party into a coalition party free corner.
The skye above the port was the color of parchment, as yet unmarked by a scrybe.
We went to see The Odyssey. It’s a fantastic spectacle that’s definitely worth seeing in the biggest screen you can. However I thought it spent a long time looking for, and never quite finding, an emotional heart. It got close a few times, but moved on too fast.
I assume this would be riddled with fishhooks and come at the expense of a bunch of things we need at least as much.
Man, if only National had been in power for the last few years and been able to do all these things they've suggested recently.
I am tracking several overseas parcels and NOTHING has moved for at least five days. I think this may be the thing that finishes me off.
Dream so busy and convoluted that it had its own soundtrack album (by Toy Love). There was mystery, intrigue, fights, casinos and several old friends from Uni days.
Cleaners are running late, so instead of spending a morning in waiting mode I get almost the whole day tiptoeing around trying to keep things tidy.
Worked close to a normal* day today and didn’t die so I declare myself largely recovered. * normal for me is still less than half a typical work day but 🤷🏼♀️
I don’t think we’ve seen Visiting Chook since the bird flu announcement. Really hoping this means they’re being kept in and not that they’ve decided, as J put it, “they can’t catch bird flu if they’re in the freezer”
F’s upcoming gigs include Bob Dylan covers and Lindy Hop. I suspect his life is funner than most people’s.
My sick day largely involved building the haunted train configuration of my Haunted Mansion Lego set. I think this might be my most favourite Lego set ever.
Nurse Pekapeka is on the job. J & I are both feeling a bit better than yesterday, but are taking things very gently. Wondering if this is what happens when you encounter a flu you’ve been vaccinated against.
