The idea of a Black academic being hounded to death for alleged acts of plagiarism in an era when universities are entering into contracts with AI companies and encouraging AI use among students, while Big Tech is stealing EVERYTHING humans write...

When they fete you as model minority, overlooking all the odd ends, you will be taken down as quickly. No one institutionally or national media will ever hound white academics for their everyday racism. Not worth even raising internally, it will be brushed off.

Think of all the mediocre white men with their plagiarism/stealing student work/sexual harassment who kept their jobs or quietly retired but are alive. Jason Arday’s situation did NOT have to play out or end this way, no matter his errors. And the media and everyone with a hot take is responsible.

This is the coverage of Arday **just in the Telegraph** in the UK. This is only the first four pages of results, just in one outlet.

realise how much time in the past few weeks were spent with basics in a humid heatwave: fan or aircon or combination; change of clothes and linen; showers; best day to do laundry (low humidity day); trying to dry the laundry without a dryer. this is so time consuming.

One of my favorite rhetorical and analytical moves is joining things (showing that different, seemingly unrelated ideas are part of the same phenomenon) and taking them apart (resolving paradoxes by demonstrating that what appears like a contradictory thing is different things, lumped together). 1/

A collage made of architectural features from 'Variae Architecturae Formae' (1636), a collection of engravings. The architectural arches, buildings, fountains, etc, are layered atop each other and placed around each other to create an infinite, recombinant built environment.

So good to be a student when one has been on the side of the classroom/studio for so long… v much noticeable what works well (lots of explanations, gentle corrections, encouragement) and what doesn’t (individual picking outs, ridiculing, no explanation)
