Law PhDs no longer having any theory training means that they can’t distinguish btw interpretation and primary theory - it’s all “theory” to them. Even social science cobbled up papers are “theory” now.

I discovered the versatility of paper clips late in life: paper, clothes, curtains, anything! It even saved diamanté straps from an evening dress from coming completely apart!

So good to be a student when one has been on the side of the classroom/studio for so long… v much noticeable what works well (lots of explanations, gentle corrections, encouragement) and what doesn’t (individual picking outs, ridiculing, no explanation)

When the budget cuts come and a department has almost no non-salary costs, it means the cuts are cuts to personnel. Having already been on an austerity budget for years, being "cheap," never spares us from the cuts

I imagine there were Victorians who said “we can’t afford sewers”, knowing that deaths from poor sanitation happened mostly to people they didn’t know. This is much more serious, of course.
