Everyone mildly interested in science denial tactics can immediately spot what Metzl is doing as the nirvana fallacy, employed by antivaxxers and climate change deniers through history. Demanding certainty is ignorant and when it comes from pretend experts it's a sick joke.

@JamieMetzl There is a lot of unnecessary confusion about the peer-reviewed literature re COVID-19 origins. Anyone who has actually read these papers knows they do not conclusively prove how the pandemic began. Not one peer-reviewed study claims to have established the origin of SARS-CoV-2 with certainty. Not one. Yet some authors of these papers have publicly and deliberately overstated what their own research demonstrates, sowing misinformation and creating widespread confusion about the state of the evidence. Notice how this (long-ass) article contains zero evidence of a lab leak. All it has is third-order meta-complaints about an alleged cover up. This is a hallmark of conspiracists: Blind you with meaningless smoke to distract from the fact that their core narrative has no basis.

The lab theory is v hard to reconcile w/evidence: So, two (2 lineages initially) infected WIV researchers didn't infect anyone in their community or around WIV (invisible masks?). They went to the market to pet (?) mammals, left traces of SARS2, coughed on people. Then put invisible? masks back on.

What the new COVID origin slack messages actually show: Emily Kopp(plops) assumed a pdf labeled feb 7 meant there was a meeting on feb 7. Revealed is her method of reporting: assuming things in ignorance, never confirming any fact she thinks she knows.
