Former politician, keen psephologist, cat dad, Germanophile, likes traveling by train, average cook, occasional writer. Oh and I do things with SQL for coin.

A couple more West Midlands councillors have left Reform to be Independents - Cllr Steven Deakin (Cannock Chase DC, Etching Hill & the Heath) and Cllr Bella Simon (Walsall MBC, Short Heath).

Also more Pringles - these are „Super Hot Spicy Crayfish flavour“ now I‘ve had Spicy Crayfish Lays crisps and they were lovely - so I‘m looking forward to these.

And for this afternoon‘s snack - Pringles - Sweet and Spicy Korean Fried Chicken. Now the tubes are shorter and have a smaller diameter than the standard UK ones which is probably just as well given the salt level and I‘ve been ordered to leave some for His Lordship when he returns from Lanzagrotty.

So the parcel has arrived with various goodies and the horror Fanta - whilst it‘s chilling down here’s something that was in it. Avocado and Cheese Doritos. They are quite pleasant, nothing offensive about them - a hint of avocado but not more that that. Would scran again but not at import prices.

Cllr Rebecca Waters (Birmingham MBC, Rubery and Rednal) has been expelled from the Reform group after voting for the Liberal Democrat @rhbhm.bsky.social to be leader of the council rather than her group leader. She will sit as an Independent.

In the two local government by-elections in the West Midlands yesterday - the Conservatives held South Staffordshire DC, Himley & Swindon and Labour held Stafford DC, Manor.

So in West Midlands political news, no one managed to change parties this week. The Kinwarton by-election for Stratford upon Avon DC was a gain for the Conservatives over the LibDems by 7 votes. 1 / 3

It's worth remembering that only three essentially Indo candidates have been elected to Westminster in Great Britain since 1997, each of them at a GE, one of them twice and none at by-elections, although you could make the case that the Georgeous One (piss be upon him) is sort of an Indo 1 / x

Whilst the SOPN is not out for the Greater Manchester Mayoral by-election, the Statement of Agents is and guess who is missing? Yes, the Gorgeous One has bottled it.

There has been a split in the Black Country Party - one of the three remaining councillors has gone Independent. Cllr Peter Drake (Dudley MBC, Coseley) has left the party over differences on national issues.
