adam wharton does funny things to me, man. it's hypnotic. there's something about his gait/body shape that's just insanely watchable, and technically he's next level. if he ends up anywhere but here i'll be gutted, much as i don't want clubs to lose their best players. don't dither, sign the boy.

not sure his football would've been a natural fit for us, but i do think xabi alonso has a serious amount of natural aura, and if a set of players buys into the culture he wants to set he'll be successful. remains to be seen if chelsea, like madrid, are too much of a basketcase club for that, but...

lacroix is a class act, isn't he? wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being the most important signing of the summer. shame we couldn't get in for him really. a pittance by modern standards.

getting a bit worried that city are just jumping around between different profiles of player. also not sure it bodes well that we're scratching around in the last week of the window for multiple key signings. not the sign of a club being ahead of the ball, as we were for so many years.

one thing that strikes me looking at city's squad now is not only have they shed a lot of experience quite quickly, but almost every single senior player has either joined or has signed a new deal within eighteen months. only exceptions are grealish, kovacic (going) and nunes (in talks to renew).

fucking hell, we've scored from a corner. maybe he *is* better than guardiola?

city are a poor side without the ball and have been more or less for two years. we're quite average with the ball now as well, but that might change with time and personnel. my gut feeling is we'll struggle against teams who can get the ball forward quickly, and we're not using our wingers properly.

the universal balance won't be properly restored until this lammens lad starts making some absolute howlers. he's too steady for a modern united goalie, it's knocked something slightly out of kilter in the banter continuum. need him to start spilling shots, haring out of his goal, dropping crosses.

there's one bit of this that i keep remembering and laughing about. one of the brothers tells a story of how, when the family were dealing with something deeply personal, their dad rang from the hospital and told them not to forget to record lethal weapon three. well worth a listen.

think this guy is a pretty interesting signing. one of the new arrivals i'm most looking forward to watching - tarik muharemovic, leeds. left-footed centre-half, bosnian international, bit of a unit, strong, but elegant on the ball and can do most of the progressive stuff. call me jon mckenzie.

the marmoush and savinho deal seems so overpriced that i'm wondering if we're going to overpay them for someone, as has been the recent league trend. archie gray maybe, or is here more of a misty-eyed pep signing? could see both doing well there, but would've expected about £90m for the pair.
