huh TIL the pier at 63rd street beach is called Casino Pier. apparently it's where the columbian exposition's comfort station was, which was called the Casino
tangentially, needed a small replacement part for one of my shifters today. duck duck go found me 3 different websites that sell it. checked google on a whim and it found me 0. completely useless.
Ian@ianofmanycolours.bsky.social · 2w agoI don't use google much but I figured I'd give it a try because finding good 27x1 1/4 tires has been tough. google AI gave me a super useful list of bike shops in chicago that carried tires I wanted. then I followed up with those shops and it was wrong, and some didn't even exist

the standard bike route from the lakefront trail to rogers park is Kenwood past Glenlake to Granville past Lakewood to Glenwood to Farwell to the Greenview Greenway... I don't understand how anybody keeps these names straight....

pleasantly surprised by how good irene's bagels are! not quite new york style, which zeitlin's does best, but a very good sourdough bagel. also, they have pumpernickel, which makes them morally superior to everyone else. one of my new favorites!
ordered a paloma last night and got a shaken, flat drink with bitters in it
my number one complaint about chicago is that i was heading home from uptown around 10 pm and almost every takeout place i checked closed at 8 or 9 pm. horrid.
