That’s a wrap on our #ICA26 preconference. Across three panels, the conversations explored Arab and African thought on media and culture as sites of exchange, experimentation, and theory-making across the Global South.
Nermin Elsherif from Utrecht University opened the third and last panel of the day with her paper, “In Search of Hizb al-Kanaba: Mediated Publics and Political Alienation.”
Yasmeen Alyeldeen and Donia Tarek from the Canadian International College opened panel 2 with their paper, “Cairo’s Afro-Arab Intellectual Societies: Literary Salons and the Transnational Circulation of Ideas in the Early 20th Century.”

This year, four films produced by our #IAS_NUQ Global Undergraduate Fellows were selected for screening at the Global South Documentary Film Festival held in Amsterdam from March 26-29.
