In the Halifax Harbour a small island has more than its fair share of shipwrecks. Devil’s Island has long been a source of local legends and after learning about this peculiar place, today’s guest Sarah L. Hawthorn, a local author was inspired to write her debut novel A Fate Worse Than Drowning.

These jaw bones come from a 272-kilogram Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) that was caught in a fish weir near Economy, Nova Scotia. Great Whites are rarely spotted in the Bay of Fundy and are listed as endangered by the Canadian Species at Risk Act.
