Thanks to @bipolardiscoveries.org for supporting our work on the circuit-level basis of bipolar disorder! By uniting neurosurgery, neuroscience, and psychiatry, our unique multidisciplinary team is unlocking vital new insights into how the human brain works. More to come soon!

🧠 BD² PI @ignaciosaezphd.bsky.social and his team are using deep brain stimulation and epilepsy-based brain recordings to better understand the circuits that drive mood changes in bipolar disorder. The more we learn about these circuits, the closer we get to treatments tailored to brain biology.

Congratulations to the Icahn Mount Sinai Class of 2026! 🎓🥳 A special shout-out to Drs. Qi Xiu Fu and Christina Maher on their hooding. Watching Qi Xiu and Christina grow into exceptional researchers and mentors has been a joy.

Last week, I spent an incredible evening full of music at @onemindorg.bsky.social's 'Apollo & Psyche' celebration 🎶 Thank you for highlighting the healing power of music, One Mind. Music is such a valuable tool for mental health! Read about the event here: onemind.org/news/one-min...

Grateful for the opportunity to start two new collaborations through the #FBIScholars awards. These projects use a cross-species approach to explore mechanisms underlying human brain states and cognition. Thank you to the Nash and Friedman families for empowering boundary pushing neuroscience! 🧠✨

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to the 2026 #FBIScholars Awardees! The FBI Scholars Award gives both young & established investigators the freedom & flexibility to explore the most audacious ideas in brain science. THANK YOU to our amazing donors w/o whom this award would not be possible!

Ethics isn't a "side-project," it's the foundation of responsible neurotech. Congratulations to Fundación Tatiana for hosting the inaugural CINET neurotech conference and facilitating these critical conversations. I’m proud to center these considerations in my work.

Ever wondered how the Dalmatian Dog effect works? The human brain can quickly learn from a single experience and generalize it to related experiences — an impressive feat so far not matched by AI. Our new paper in @natcomms.nature.com reveals how this works. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Exciting to see this paper out! Data shows episodic memory is dependent on a small number of precisely timed, transient, internally-generated states. Understanding these precise spatial and temporal dynamics is key to developing accurate and effective memory enhancement strategies 🧠

Another example of the role of oscillations in brain function. In this case, interactions between theta and higher frequencies. Episodic memory involves transient and sparse connectivity aligned to both internal and external events doi.org/10.1371/jour... #neuroscience
