It’s #NationalInternDay! Earlier this week, we welcomed 98 IDOT interns to our headquarters in Springfield to celebrate their hard work this summer. The group toured our brand-new Materials and Testing Lab and heard from many of IDOT’s leaders and team members.

The new Don Welge Memorial Bridge is now open, connecting Illinois and Missouri across the Mississippi River! This project, a partnership between the Missouri Department of Transportation and IDOT, replaces the former Chester Bridge, and connects Randolph County, IL, with Perry County, MO.

Exciting news, Dixon! This week, IDOT joined the City of Dixon and community leaders to celebrate the completion of Project ROCK. The $14M project features a bike and pedestrian bridge over the Rock River, improved paths in Page Park, and resurfacing of Chuck Vail Drive and Page Drive.

Illinois is investing more in EV charging stations! A new round of funding through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program will help expand our electric vehicle network across the state, boosting reliable charging wherever you're headed.

A heat advisory and extreme heat watch are in effect across Illinois this week. 🔥 Prolonged high temps and humidity can cause road pavements to expand and, in some cases, buckle. IDOT crews are closely monitoring conditions and are prepared to respond quickly to any pavement issues.

It’s official! Transit is now available in all 102 Illinois counties. 🎉 Starting July 1, Warren County Public Transportation will offer on-demand service to Henderson County, connecting over 6,000 residents to local and regional destinations, including Galesburg and the Quad Cities.

Join us for a public meeting on Monday, June 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. to discuss a study for proposed improvements to U.S. 40 from Formosa Road to Illinois 162 in Madison County. The Phase 1 study will explore options to improve traffic safety and mobility in the area.
