Thoughts that couldn't fit in the (pretty solid) 404 Media summary: Larry brought some genuinely interesting ideas, e.g. ending indefinite blocks or reforming ANI. No proposal is perfect right off the bat, but these could've been workshopped with editors and build up to actionable changes.

My #Wikipedia request for comment just closed, finally banning #AI content in articles! "The use of LLMs to generate or rewrite article content is prohibited" Kudos to all who helped write the guideline (especially Kowal2701) and to the #WikiProjectAICleanup team, this was very much a group effort!

NEW: Wikipedia editors have implemented new policies and restricted a number of contributors who were paid to use AI to translate existing Wikipedia articles into other languages after they discovered these AI translations added AI “hallucinations,” or errors, to the resulting article.

Thanks for the interview! My biggest worry wrt the current situation is that our remedies mostly focus on the exploited "freelancers" themselves, and we've had little luck regulating the broader structural issue. For me, the organization bears the most responsibility, not the individual translators.
