i should have posted more during #teardown2026 but my installation went well, i met some cool folks, and i burned myself while trying to connect a recycled vape battery to an ultrasonic piezo driver board. a pretty positive experience ☺️

Call for submissions - breath piece I am a trans composer and poet working on a sound poetry/installation piece for an upcoming gallery show. For source material, I am looking for recordings of the sound of trans people breathing audibly in response to a prompt. Instructions * Deadline: May 1, 2025 11:59 PM Pacific Time. * Make an unprocessed recording following the prompt below. A voice memo on your phone is fine. * Recordings should be no more than 30 seconds and in MP3, M4A, WAV, or CAF format. * E-mail a copy of the recording to breathe@imprecision.art. In your e-mail, include the following: 1. If and how you would like to be credited (any name or anonymously is fine). 2. A quick acknowledgement that you’re 18 years of age or older, and that you’re OK with me using this recording for this project (see “What Will Happen” below).Prompt Think of a time another trans person made you feel trans joy. Start recording. Inhale audibly, as you if breathed in that bliss when you felt it. Exhale audibly, as if you were sharing your breath with someone else to spread that exuberance. Let that breath become a sound that radiates the joy. Stop recording. Thank the person who made you feel that joy.What Will Happen • I will be editing and processing these recordings into a larger set of audio tracks. Any spoken words will be removed, but non-verbal vocalizations might be kept. • An interactive installation that leverages these audio tracks will be installed in a gallery group show at The Factory in Seattle, Washington that opens on June 12, 2025. • I cannot guarantee I will use all received recordings in the final piece. • The audio tracks will be recorded onto physical media with limited copies (25 or less) as part of this process. The physical media will be available for purchase at the gallery and through my Bandcamp site. • Individuals will only be credited as they prefer. If you wish to remain anonymous you may do so. Credit and/or name changes are welcome for future performance/ recording iterations. • Permission for continued use in future settings or installations may be revoked upon request. • The original submitted recordings will be deleted after the gallery show closes.
