I definitely miss the times when my friends and I were more excited about making point and click adventure games. Most of the crew that I made my games with have moved on with their lives. I still try to plug away at it, but I find my heart not in it as much as it used to be.

Indie Game Developer - retro point & clicks Posts by Steven Alexander www.infamous-quests.com
Been too long since I posted here. The summer of my recovery continues - I can walk a lil bit with my walker now. It’s a process but I’m happy I’m making progress. Now if I could only swing some energy into working on video games - I’ll admit my desire to do so has been in a waning phase all year.
Just sitting at dialysis, trying to get through my four hours. Had a cup of coffee before I got on and it was amazing, now I’m enjoying some Bottlecaps as a snack, courtesy of my incredible friend Dale who gave me some last week when he was on his way through town to head to Albany.

Man, I miss getting together at video game/game dev cons with my friends, colleagues & teammates. 10-12 years ago we were all working on some really great projects and had stars in our eyes over the future.
It’s my birthday! Another year achieved despite some big bumps earlier this year! Spinal surgery is rough and rehab is rougher: I can walk short distances with my walker now, & I’m working hard with PT every week. I’ve been posting more updates here, so you can keep an eye on it. gofund.me/77da16f95

Well, just a few updates from me - after a 41 day stint in the hospital/rehab - I am home now. My legs are still pretty useless after spinal surgery. I’m in a wheelchair at home, but I’m resting and recovering better. I start home physical therapy on Tuesday, and hopefully we can get my legs working
I’ve been in rehabilitation following my spinal surgery… my legs have been slowly “waking up” and yesterday I stood for the first time during Physical Therapy. Then later in the day I took my first steps using the parallel bars. It’s been slow going, but I’m starting to make progress.
Headed into surgery for my spine tonight! Hopefully this will alleviate my issues and I can walk again.
Because a couple people asked, I will still need to raise about $1000 to pay for a new mobility wheelchair for me to use while I recover from spinal surgery. Insurance cover is 80%. I have a GoFundMe that my friends set up for me six years ago now but it’s still going. gofund.me/790b276ed

Well folks, I am here to update you… I have currently been in the hospital all weekend as I have lost the use of my legs. My condition has been slowly deteriorating for the last six months and I came home from Dialysis on Friday unable to get up or walk. They had spinal surgeon examine me with MRI
This update, sadly, is not game related but one of my health. An update on things as I try to deal with mobility issues and getting through another winter… you can read the full update here - gofund.me/b49bafe43 Thanks to all checking in on me - I’ve been down but not out!
Some people complain about deaths in Adventure games, especially Sierra games, but for me, half the fun was discovering some of the funny and interesting deaths. I know that when we made Quest for Infamy, we tried to create some fun & interesting ways to die and equally fun death messages.
I need to get a new computer chair. I need something a little more comfy and ergonomic for my back. It’s hard to sit at my computer for any length of time lately.
Just sitting here thinking about what a great dude @dwarvenjester.bsky.social is. I’m thinking about how I have to catch up with him sometime soon… I’m so busy during the holidays. I didn’t get in touch with everybody that I really wanted to. Judt settling now into January, should be fun
I was just thinking about people that I used to talk to on Twitter a lot, who I haven’t heard from in years. Either they stopped using social media or they left Twitter… but there were people that I used to just casually converse with that I miss. Losing touch happens. I always like saying hi.

Just feeling extra thankful today. I got to sit down for another amazing meal with my family, and with my kids. The fact that I’m even here still is a miracle and I’m here because of the generosity of so many. Especially my organ donors. Sigh. Between them and the good crew at the dialysis centers.
My buddy Ron hosts a radio show on Sunday nights that features interesting and rare vinyl albums. He and his crew talk about vinyl and they spin it on the show. The studio where they have been broadcasting from for 16 years is closing. Help them! @kickstarter.com www.kickstarter.com/projects/ron...

I’m really sad about the passing of “Burger” Becky Heineman. I was lucky enough to strike up a casual friendship with her over the years, mostly based around chats about Tass Times in Tone Town. She was just so smart and innovative. For me, it was really cool to make friends with a hero of mine. RIP
I sat at home alone today. No one called. I didn’t go anywhere or do anything. My buddy Ron did text me mid-day and my Dad texted me early in the evening. My kids FaceTimed me a couple times. But all in all, a very solitary day. I’ve felt a little isolated lately but I’m loathe to change that now.
November update on my go fund me; join me on my journey through surviving Dialysis and hopefully getting another kidney transplant. You can check out the updates here. Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared in the past. In this Thanksgiving season I am very thankful. gofund.me/24f2f86a

The past couple weeks have been really tough. I have been dealing with a personal family situation that has been taxing and difficult. I am so behind on so many things that I need to do. And I really only have so much energy to do them. Here I am at Dialysis pushing on. Things will get better.
Just heard “If You Leave Me Now” by Chicago on the radio. Song instantly transported me to hearing that same song floating of a tinny old radio on my grandparents porch at their camp in the Adirondacks. It was the early 80s, a beautiful summer evening and I can remember just how it smelled. Perfect.
Accidentally ended up listening to Christmas Music this morning. Trans-Siberian Orchestra is playing now and I ain’t mad.
Hot fucking damn. Less than 24 hours and I've reached my goal. I can go out and buy a new computer TODAY. THANK YOU!!! I'm going to leave it up for a little longer, though, 'cos if it gets an additional 869 DKK (~$135 USD), I can throw in a 2TB hard drive. www.gofundme.com/f/sqhcomputer
