Many thanks to Roderick Wordie for sharing an afternoon with a rapt audience last Saturday, regaling us with tales of his grandfather Sir James Wordie's experiences on Shackleton's 'Endurance' expedition. A treat also to see some of his grandfather's artefacts from his days of polar exploration.

It will soon be time for our exhibition on Sat 30 & Sun 31 May, celebrating Sir Ernest Shackleton. Please note that the talk on Sat 30 is SOLD OUT. We have a waiting list so if you have tickets but can no longer attend, let us know! The Library will be CLOSED for tours from 2-4pm on Sat 30th.

a tiny bit of good news is that we have secured funding to digitize john milton's copy of holinshed's CHRONICLES (1587). the images will form part of MILTON'S LIBRARY, an open-access site featuring the 10 books positively identified as milton's w/ transcriptions/translations of his marginal notes.
