Innovasea designs the most advanced fish tracking and passage technology to drive groundbreaking science and sustainability.

PhD student Nicole Firing deploys an acoustic receiver as part of the very first acoustic telemetry project around Saint Barthelemy. Firing is part of Professor Reid Nelson's lab at George Mason University, studying blacknose sharks. Good luck and keep us posted! 📸 Photo courtesy of Karl Questel

Thanks to the team at Sharklab-Malta for hosting us for hands‑on acoustic telemetry training and range‑testing. They collect shark egg cases from local fish markets and rears them in aquaria. They're now working to gain new funding to study the movement of released juvenile nursehound sharks.

Brook trout selection varied substantially through July: we found patterns of selection driven by both time of day ☀️🌖 and body size, with larger fish consistently selecting cooler temperatures 🧊 Very cool opportunity to work with some of the earliest VPS data from @innovasea.com!

🚨 T-minus 1 hour until we host our acoustic telemetry workshop at SDAFS 2026! The event kicks off at 1 pm (local time) in Napoleon C3. See you there! Ohh, and after the workshop, swing by the booth to learn more about our complete array of acoustic telemetry solutions.

Recently, we joined a team of researchers from Des Requins et Des Hommes in the Faroe Islands for range testing. The trip included a three-day trip trying to catch and tag porbeagle sharks. 🦈 While no new tags were deployed, it led to some good stories. So...win!

It's not Christmas just yet, but there's already something special under the tree from the Innovasea fish tracking team. 🎁🎄 Any guesses as to what's inside? #trackingnotslacking #christmastree

As 2025 winds down, we look back at some of the impressive activity that researchers have logged in Fathom Central this year: 🔹 New receiver deployments: 27,534  🔹 Animals tagged: 50,007  🔹 New shared workspaces: 1,766  We can't wait to see what our amazing community does in 2026!

I don't know if you're allowed to do that... HydroAI's high-definition cameras are used to automate fish and eel counts, but that hasn't stopped other animals from jumping in front of the camera. Here's a look at some of the unexpected visitors we spotted on HydroAI in 2025.
