Fun fact, that’s how your tax dollars should be spent. I dont have kids but my taxes go to pay for schools that kids I dont and won’t have will never go to and…that’s perfectly fine. Tax dollars spent on benefits for the larger society is why taxes exist morons

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

Excuse my ignorance, but if Todd Blanche is confirmed, couldn’t he just issue a new memo under a slightly different framework that still gives Trump the slush fund and the immunity he wanted? We can’t trust these people.

I’m tired of old ppl in Congress on the left thinking the problem with tech companies will be solved by just taxing them more. Sure, they need to pay more in taxes but what they really need is to be regulated and held accountable for the products they unleash on the public

Do you use Instagram or Gmail? You could be helping to train AI. Big Tech has turned what all of us helped create into a trillion-dollar industry. It’s time to tax AI so you can share in its success.

Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.

Dr. Lucky Tran@luckytran.com · 6d ago

People still complain about “lockdowns” but we had none in the US. We had stay-at-home orders, where although businesses were closed, you could still go outside whenever you wanted. Other countries had far stricter rules, and yet have been much more accepting of them as they saved many more lives.

It’s ok to admit that DSA co-chair’s Fox News interview was idiotic First question and red flag is if you’re trying to get candidates to win democratic primaries why are you going on Fox News? Who are you trying to win over?

The problem is, much like Meta's other products, the most degenerate use cases are the keys to generating engagement and therefore, ad revenue. That's it. There is no mass market for these glasses unless it's to invade privacy. Not at the scale they want it to be

The Verge@theverge.com · last wk.

Last week, Instagram's Adam Mosseri said that the social media platform will take down videos taken with Meta’s glasses that depict harassment. Attempts to curtail misuse are good, but the problem is Meta could have been doing this all along. Read more from @vicmsong.bsky.social: buff.ly/u2z4uwE

*sigh* This is why i worry that some ppl aren't up to the task. There is no "if" here. He cannot run a third time, period. Just like as a felon, he shouldn't have been allowed to run. If you allow even one vote for him on an official ballot, you've legitimized something that is illegal. Period

LET US BE CLEAR:
If Trump does indeed run for a third
term, and if he runs unopposed by
the GOP, his Democratic opponent
AUTOMATICALLY WINS. Every vote
cast for him is thrown in the trash,
because every vote cast for him was
cast for an ineligible candidate.

SAY IT!!!

Cause see…if you’re forced to admit that musk supporting neo-Nazis isn’t a bug but a deliberate feature you then have to look at all the ppl that are directly supporting musk and making deals with him and what that says about them

That’s actually the bigger problem. Ppl keep giving fascists an inch and downplaying when they aren’t “as bad” as the others. That’s how she ends up sitting down across from musk and acting shocked he shrugs that he’s supporting neo-Nazis. She doesn’t understand he’s one of them

The editor in chief of The Economist referring here to the AfD’s leader as a “perfectly thoughtful person“ instead of what she truly is - a driver and enabler of German fascism - is a huge part of the problem.

No. That’s not what happened. A shitty software company set up a poorly secured “sandbox” without the most basic firewalls and let a machine learning bot run wild and it “hacked” a site run by ppl that idiotically allowed remote code to execute with zero checks It’s just bad security 101

This story is both shocking and not the least bit surprising: an OpenAI model that was being tested for its abilities hacked the infrastructure surrounding the test, worked over the weekend while no one was looking, and cyber-attacked a real company, well before OpenAI noticed. (1/3)

Joined the BBC to talk about hyperscalers' AI capex, the greater AI bubble, and how OpenAI is the Lehman Brothers of AI.

I tell you. Nothing shows you the true character of a lot of white folks on the left like Dem primary season if there's a race where black people don't vote the way those white people want them to. The racism and bigotry and hate just spills out.
