Ah-ha! The focal mechanism of the M7.2 just got updated: earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/... Now it matches the M7.5.
The automated back projection tool captures both the foreshock and mainshock in one solution and the mainshock alone in a separate one. And they don't remotely agree with each other. 🙂 Foreshock + Mainshock:

Very damaging earthquakes in Venezuela. @judithgeology.bsky.social provides a preliminary summary of what may have been a M7.2 and M7.5 doublet - or a complex rupture. Scientifically, this will be hard to untangle because later P/S arrivals will overlap the wavefield from the first event.
