The generally infallible New Yorker whiffed 2X in this TotT: "Dusty Baker....In his twenties: stands in the batter’s box as his Atlanta Braves teammate Hank Aaron hits his 715th homer. Thirties: takes cover in Candlestick Park when the World Series earthquake strikes." [He was 40.] h/t Wayne King

Pentagon designates press office a classified space. Under previous administrations the office was an open room where reporters could stop by the desks of military public affairs officials without escorts. Without the "public" part of "public affairs" all that leaves is "affairs."

The atrocious appeal of rightwing American politics 2026: “I’m succeeding,” [LA mayoral candidate] Spencer Pratt said, “because I’m taking all the words away.” Vague promises, lies, demonization, finger-pointing, oversimplification -- and then failure to deliver. A fine mess...

"THE APPEARANCE OF A CONFLICT OF INTEREST"?????!!!!! Come the fuck on! Dell inks $9.7 billion Pentagon contract after Trump acquires stock, praises company. Ethics experts say the president’s recent investments in the tech company create the appearance of a conflict of interest.

Captain Queeg is looking for those damn strawberries again... "The case against former FBI director Comey centers on a photo he posted last year showing seashells arranged to write out “86 47,” which some saw as a call for violence against President Donald Trump."

Phil Ochs, unfortunately, was wrong. So off I go once more to march against greed, corruption, bigotry, jingoism, imperialism, warmongering, lies, zealotry and stupidity, something I first did 61 years ago next month (SDS March on Washington to End the War in Vietnam April 17, 1965).
