So… just to make sure I am understanding this right… … the US Congress can subpoena you to testify before them and if you choose to use your constitutional rights you can be held in contempt and possibly even imprisoned? WTF kinda of government is that?
Is Doom Imminent?

Anxiety ridden over how dark it is going to get and how quickly it is going to happen. Lover of cats, and someone who uses too many commas. Attempting to enjoy, as much as possible, what time is left before humanity’s demise.
Struggling with whether I am a still a plain, old Democrat or a Democratic Socialist of America… … the more I learn about the latter, the more intrigued I become. As such, it’s a very confusing time for me personally right now as I sort through all this.
No one has to convince me how evil and degenerate ICE Agents are—choosing to work for ICE, by virtue of what they do, is to be evil and degenerate, thus the reason ICE attracts the worst of the worst.
Purely from a statistical mathematics perspective it should be no surprise that US Service Members have been killed literally as Trump plays golf—the man plays A LOT of golf as our President.
Unable to win, simply because the Iranians won’t give up and Trump is too afraid to risk American boots-on-the-ground, Trump will continue to commit war crimes somehow hoping that will speed-up an Iranian surrender. It makes no sense, but this is his “strategy.”
All I really care about is whether Lindsey Graham’s death decreases the chances of “the SAVE Act” passing.
All I really care about is whether Mitch McConnel’s death decreases the chances of “the SAVE Act” passing.
For the record, I was against Graham Platner before it was cool to be against Graham Platner.
According to ChatGPT, the longest speech Donald Trump has ever given was 1h48m. The best gift he can give America on our 250th birthday is a speech even longer than that, preferably without properly hydrating first, concluding with him suffering a reverse William Henry Harrison type event.
Remember, they’re not “tolls.” They’re “fees rendered for services.”
I’ve finally reached the point where I’ve just given up. Humanity is doomed one way or another (probably climate change that will kill us all in the end), so might as well enjoy what time is left. It’s depressing, but it is what it is—nothing I can do to change what is inevitable at this point.
I’ve reached the point where I fully understand and realize that our country is a crumbling empire and lost cause for anyone other than the ultra-wealthy… … my only hope at this point is that my children can escape when they’re old enough and try to enjoy what little time our world has left.
The only secret more closely guarded then what is in the text of a one-and-half page Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran is them Epstein Files.
America really needs to come to terms with the fact that about 1/3 of its citizens are under-educated, racist, xenophobic, and otherwise generally repugnant people. Sadly, we barely discuss this fact, let alone having ever even attempted to do anything to try to help these people.
My best guess about what might happen tonight is that Trump is in and out before a majority of the ticket-holders even make through security to be seated.
Not that anyone much cares, but I am on a light-duty day at work and will be prevalently posting my many opinions today.
Today alone I learned that ICE announced it will no longer report deaths of recently released detainees AND the US military eliminated its recognition of over 100 different religions.
The United States Military only wants your service if you’re a white, male, heterosexual Christian. You can still “serve,” of course, but your career will stagnate at a certain point, and you’ll be consistently ostracized and ridiculed if you fall into any other category.
For what it’s worth, my opinion on recent Republican/GOP/MAGA elections is that they demonstrate an unpopular party that is shrinking in size and as a result moving farther and farther right.
If one takes it as true that Republicans are shedding voters due to, well, everything they’ve done so far and what they want to do; then as the party shrinks the farther, harder right they’ll become. Thus creating a perpetual feedback loop.
America didn’t turn shitty because he became President. He became President because America was already this shitty. That’s the uncomfortable truth that nobody wants to admit.
My belief is that there is more than enough taxes in America-- we're just spending all that money in the wrong places. I spent 20 years in the US Army, trust me when I tell you that the military does not need or deserve $1.5 trillion, or even half of that... or even half of that half.
If I ever ran for office I would make every last dime of my personal wealth and campaign finances so completely transparent to voters that there could never be any doubt whatsoever as if I were bought off by the oligarchs and their corporations like most, if not all, politicians in America.
Struggling with trying express myself here on BlueSky, but feeling as if I am just yet another voice screaming into the void with little to no interaction. It's frustrating and depressing.
Maybe the people of Tennessee aren’t all racists, but the people they elected sure as fuck are.
History will one day recall that the “2nd American Civil War” was preceded by “the gerrymandering wars” after the Voting Rights Act was gutted by the SCOTUS.
Ever since he “came on the scene,” everyone has said, “He wouldn’t be stupid enough to do that!?” And then he proved them wrong. Why, then, would tonight be any different?
The 25th amendment might as well not exist at all when everyone in the cabinet either completely agrees with the madman or is too scared of him.
