I got curious how many Skyborne were blue vs not blue (esp considering the lore book that says 3/10 children born today are blue) so I went around cataloguing only named NPCs and it came out to 44 blue + 86 not blue, so blue shen'dorei make up roughly 33-34% of the population

BildPage 4 of "The Sky-Touched Mystery":

"Today, three in ten children born on the Skyborne Isles have the striking complexion of the Sky-Touched. In recent centuries, the acceleration of our physical alterations has increased, and many scholars believe that the last vestiges of our kaldorei heritage may vanish entirely within two to three more generations. The cause of this transformation may never be fully understood. Yet it is plain that, in making our lives within the elemental plane, we as a people are being changed by it in turn. Skywall is a realm of wonders, but this serves as a sober reminder that we still know perilously little of what such a place may work upon those not born to it."

obsessed with Highborne lore as I am you know I had to run to Shen'dralas and see what's up Mordent's got some dialogue, sorta wondering if this is Skyborne specific though given the familiarity with Eldre'Thalas

Mordent Evenshade's gossip dialogue in Shen'dralas. He says:

"Welcome to Shen'dralas, or what remains of it. I hope you can appreciate the majesty of this place, even if it is a haunted shell of its former self."

The player character has an option to ask him:

"Truly remarkable! I never had thought that I might see a part of Eldre'Thalas for myself."Mordent Evenshade's response to the player character saying they never thought they would see Eldre'Thalas:

"You speak of this place by name! That is a level of respect, or knowledge, that I would not expect these days. Of the few adventurers I have encountered, most refer to the city simply as 'Dire Maul'. While I find that name insulting and diminishing of my people's proud and extensive history, I cannot deny that Eldre'Thalas no longer lives up to its historical grandeur. At times I wonder if I do our city a disservice by preserving its namesake so long after it has fallen. I hope you can excuse the state the temple and its grounds are in. So much has changed over the past few millennia."

The player character has the option to respond:

"Given the events that unfolded here, I am pleasantly surprised that any part of the city still stands at all."In response to the player character saying they're surprised Eldre'Thalas is still standing, Mordent Evenshade responds:

"I'm inclined to agree, despite surviving the Great Sundering it seemed as though the city was nonetheless doomed from that catastrophic event. Its fall from greatness would ultimately come to reality, just not directly from the event that should have killed us all. That moment forever changed the destiny of my people. So many lives were lost... At times I try to understand the motivations of my Prince, but I admit that all these years later I struggle to do so. I try to avoid dwelling on the past, pondering decisions that can never be made or opportunities that may never have existed to begin with. The senseless loss of so much life is what haunts me the most."

The player character can respond:

"It is good to mourn those lost in the tragedy, but perhaps more importantly, you should celebrate the lives of those that survived."Mordent Evenshade says:

"Celebrating my own life as I stare toward a mass grave of so many of my kin feels... selfish. To this day I have yet to meet any other survivors, save for those of my order who remain cloistered in Prince Tortheldrin's inner sanctum, deep within the city. I still count myself among them, but these days it pains me greatly to walk those halls, and I spent much of my time away from the library I once called home."

Learned in the quests that there were 3 Skyborne islands (and they've recently begun to drift apart/fall out of contact): Zephras, Anvilas, and Siroccas. Where Valanaar is the capital of Zephras, Shen'dramar and New Eldre'naar were the capitals of the other islands.

The completion quest text for the Crab Season quest. It reads:

"Windsong Crawler meat is common enough here but it was something of a delicacy on the islands of Anvilas and Siroccas. Was a time, back when the skystreams were open that the locals would mob me for the stuff when I'd make the trip to Shen'dramar or New Eldre'naar."

This is the only thing I've found so far that gives any indication of what Shen'dorei lifespans might be. Valennia said she served the Shal'nan for almost 900 years and she's one of the only living Shen'dorei left who got to talk to him.

Gossip dialogue for an NPC named Valennia Stormfist. She says:

"I might be the only living shen'dorei left amongst our people who had more than a handful of words with him. I served him as the captain of his Empyrean Blades for nearly nine centuries, right up until... he left us."

some VERY interestingly named NPCs and I am choosing to think it's fully intentional that they share surnames with Tyrande Whisperwind / Maiev / Jarod Shadowsong but ALSO it means they had distant relatives living in Eldre'Thalas!

A Skyborne NPC named Dondallion WhisperwindA Skyborne NPC named Talaanis Shadowsong

Found a lore book covering the Shen'dralar rebellion that led to the Skyborne called "The Rebellion in Eldre'Thalas, Part 1" Not TOO much new lore in it (we already knew about Goldrinn) but it does narrow down the timeline a bit and give us some interesting new morsels

Page 1:

"You touch the small white crystal and you can hear faint sounds on the wind. This is an audio recording of some sort: The Rebellion in Eldre'Thalas, Part 1" Page 2:

"In the days immediately following the turmoil at the Well of Eternity, there was much unrest in Eldre'Thalas. The demonic forces that poured from the Well nearly overwhelmed the beleaguered elvish kingdoms, ravaging the land and killing indiscriminately. If not for the intervention of the demigod Goldrinn and the sacrifice of countless kaldorei heroes, the kingdom of Eldre'Thalas would surely have been overrun and destroyed."Page 3:

"After the climax of the war and the Great Sundering of Kalimdor, the new reality of a world bereft of the sustaining magic on which our people depended quickly became apparent. The ruling house of Eldre'Thalas -- House Tortheldrin -- rapidly set plans in motion to ensure stability and continuity of our way of life. However, the methods they intended to employ left many deeply concerned."Page 4:

"The young Prince Tortheldrin intended to build a network of crystalline foci and use them to siphon and shape a new font of power for our people to draw upon. The point of contention for many was that he intended to use the very power that nearly destroyed our world to accomplish this. He meant to siphon the power from a demon world within the Twisting Nether itself. Many rightly feared this could open a new door through which demonic entities might once again gain access to our world."

okay so I did NOT expect to see High Priestess Lorthuna (from Deepholm quests) referenced in the Skyborne intro and now I have QUESTIONS (so she joined the cult really early on? Is she technically a high elf then?)

A quest from the Skyborne starting zone. It reads:

A band of Al'Aketh cult ruffians have taken up residence near the temple ruins just southwest of here, led by a real monster called Malduko Cloudcrush. This rabble has no doubt been dispatched here by High Priestess Lorthuna at the Shrine of Akir to attack travelers and coerce our people into joining the cult.High Priestess Lorthuna's profile from the Warcraft Wiki.

okay but as a crazy lore nerd, one of the most exciting reveals in the WoW Forever news was the Drowned City dungeon bc I'm pretty sure it's a reference to the troll city of I'lalai which got wiped out by Neptulon at some point in the past!

A screenshot of the Drowned City dungeon from WoW Forever. An excerpt from a tablet in a vanilla WoW quest that talks about I'lalai. It says:

The Krakken then bent their fury upon Min'loth, and an ocean fell upon I'lalai. And it was no more. And then the waters fell upon the jungle, washing clean all they met. Trolls and beasts cried out as the waters smashed and drowned them. Many Gurubashi wondered why the ocean swallowed them, but then they died and knew nothing. And finally, when the waters reached the mountains, they stopped. Appeased, they retreated back beyond the shores, and they left a wake of death. They retreated, but they surged around I'lalai and remained, drowning it forever. And the chief Var'gazul, safe behind the mountains in Zul'Gurub, went out to the jungle and found it washed clean of his people. And he despaired, for his dreams of conquest were thwarted. And never was Min'loth the Serpent found.

The mech in the TLT teaser reminds me quite a bit of the construct that spawned when the Earthen decided to abandon their duties to the Titans in TWW and given the Titans' love of failsafes, I have a few theories about where 12.2 might be going ...

A screenshot from The Last Titan teaser cinematic showing the "colossal" mech creature in the mist.

Thinking about stories they could tell in future Forever zones w/o stepping on established lore & I have ideas Gilneas: Northgate Rebellion? idk if the timeline works, but it was alluded to in the starting zone Quel'Thalas: Growing political tensions between high elves + belves

With the 12.2 cinematic + Xal'atath's intentions to "merge" with Azeroth made clear, I wanna go back to the Forbidden Reach book saying Xal'atath will "fulfill the final prophecy and complete the awakening". Is the awakening them merging in this case...? also, Azshara for 13.0?

The last page of the "A Song of the Depths" book from Forbidden Reach. It says:

When these things come to pass, the Harbinger will fulfill the final prophecy and complete the awakening. Only then shall our Queen return to reign over sea and sky and earth. We must make ready. Rise, rise! Soon all that was hidden will be revealed.A screenshot from the Xal'atath 12.2 cinematic premiered at Blizzcon in which she's saying she and the Azeroth world soul will "become one".

so are we gonna talk about how Azeroth’s world soul looks DISTINCTLY different from K’aresh or Argus’ … haven’t decided yet if this is bc she’s unique, at a different place in her development cycle, or (& I think this is most likely) the Titans have been pumping her full of Order juice

also realized I have not posted a proper photo of my Azshara cosplay!! This is actually the first time I debuted a cosplay at a con that I made most of myself! I’ll do a breakdown of my design & how it compares to Azshara’s outfits at some point but for now, rest :)

Me in elf Azshara cosplay at Blizzcon

made it home from Blizzcon 🥹 took way fewer photos & saw less of the con than I wanted (too busy going to back to back panels) but getting to meet/hang out with friends is always the highlight for me. See y’all again in 1 or more years ❤️

A mirror selfie of me in dressed down Azshara cosplay. I’m wearing the wig, crown, and ears, but also a simple gray shirt depicting Azshara’s naga portrait & black shorts.
