NEW: An "unprecedented" number of people have received Apple's latest notifications alerting them they were targeted with mercenary spyware, according to security researchers. A soldier fighting in Ukraine told us he knows of other soldiers getting them. Lots of posts on social media too.

So it looks like Zambia cancelled RightsCon because China through a hissy fit that there would be some recognition of Taiwan and human rights at this human rights conference. If the US had a functioning State Dept, this is the kind of thing that they might have helped to respond to...

NEW: The FBI was able to forensically extract copies of incoming Signal messages from a defendant’s iPhone, even after the app was deleted, because copies of the content were saved in the device’s push notification database, multiple people present for FBI testimony in a trial told 404 Media.
