We study the evolution of birds on islands and we are part of CIBIO, Portugal (Sociality group) and CEFE, Montpellier, France (E3CO group) www.islandbirdproject.com

On a hike through the mossy montane forests of Kolombanagara, Solomon Islands, I found this incredible little grasshopper. This is a species from the genus Opiptacris, locals called them the 'rasta grasshopper'. It seems this taxon is endemic to this small island. #inverts #insects

We study evolution of birds on islands, particularly focusing on investigating the mechanisms underlying life history traits, colour, song, behaviour and morphology. We examine questions from both ultimate and proximate perspectives and combine field and comparative work.
