Spatiotemporal geohazard mapping was achieved by processing 15,000+ online news articles from Türkiye (1997–2023) using web scraping, NLP, and geolocation. As a result 13,940 mapped events floods, wildfires, landslides, and sinkholes. A scalable, open-source approach for data-scarce regions. Link👇

At the 77th Geological Congress of Turkey held this year, Prof. Dr. Tolga Görüm gave a presentation titled “8 December 2024 Güngören, Arhavi (Artvin) Debris Avalanche and Landslide Hazard and Risk Assessment of the Area” during the Natural Disasters, Disaster Management and Risk Assessments Session.
