I was not reviewer 2. But I am so annoyed by Americans pretending the whole open science movement is funded by John Arnold. His investments are absolutely dwarfed by what the European Union and European science funders have invested in Open science. Only incredibly biased people would ignore this.

It’s official: UKRI has defunded the LHCb upgrade, which would have run at the High Luminosity LHC (currently under construction). This is a disaster for UK physics. We’ve rightly invested heavily in the HL-LHC but without LHCb, we’re throwing away crucial science that can’t be done anywhere else.
For this to be one of the first actions of a northern Prime Minister is quite something. Jodrell Bank is a British national treasure, but for people from the region (including this former Bradford schoolgirl) it was and still is pure northern inspirational science gold. C'mon Andy. Sort it out.
