if someone had said a year ago "next year a leftist muslim will beat a sitting congressperson backed by her state's sitting governor and 30 million dollars of AIPAC spending—but the race will be close" people would have thought that sounded pretty gd good. gotta keep perspective!

Spencer Ackerman@attackerman.bsky.social · 5h ago

@abdulelsayed.bsky.social triumphing over something like $60 million, $32-ish million of it AIPAC money, is not a "narrow" victory, it's a people's earthquake. This kind of spending is oligarchy in action, to smother democracy through its formal channels, and is getting normalized. Still he won.

the el-sayed win shows yet again that centrists are now everything they always claim the left is when it comes to israel: ideologically rigid, in hock to extremists, mistaking online beefs (ie hasan) for mass politics—and toxic to the electorate.

Today in @thenation.com, @evenrobins.bsky.social has a damning verdict on Andy Burnham's first week as UK prime minister. "Burnham has maintained extensive continuity with the prime minister he deposed, and has shown little desire to forge a new direction." www.thenation.com/article/worl...

Andy Burnham Is Not to Be Trusted

The UK's new prime minister has promised sweeping change. But his first week in power saw him going down the same failed paths as his predecessors.

The Joy of Watching the World Cup in Gaza

For 90 minutes, the World Cup gives us something the genocide has tried to take away: a sense of community, a sense of normality, and a moment of pure celebration.

days like this are fun because we all get to tune into the "who can embarrass themselves the most" olympics. strong showing from the senator here! possibly medal-worthy, though we'll have to hear from all the contestants to find out

Sen. Adam Schiff@schiff.senate.gov · 3w ago

What I’ll remember most about Senator Graham was his sense of humor and how he deployed it to move his policy positions forward. Though we did not often agree, Senator Graham was never disagreeable.

of course the Dem establishment is trying to use Platner's downfall to knife the left more broadly. that's why it's a bad idea to run someone with such a high chance of a downfall, and to cut corners on vetting him!

Trying to pick apart a woman's text messages to prove she's lying about being raped is gutter behavior. Consent can be revoked at any time and reading insinuations into text messages that the sender denies were there is ACTUAL journalistic malpractice. I would not trust a man who does this!

Leqaa Kordia was incarcerated in the Prairieland ICE detention facility in North Texas. she was in the facility when the Prairieland protesters now charged with 500+ years in federal prison set off fireworks outside for detainees to know they were there in solidarity.
