i am a juris doctor holding career public policy expert esp. in public sector delegated governance but i am otherwise a good ol' 'berta boy (communist) he/him or they/them is fine too jackspeyside.neocities.org

an ad hominem is a logical fallacy in the same way it is not rational to buy a lottery ticket (it's technically correct, but only for an idealized economic actor who isnt bound by a human lifetime or similar constraints, does not have feelings, etc. and so may not particularize to literally anyone)

trade war is the same thing as war, a state sponsored kneecapping of productive forces in the service of big capital remaining profitable and powerful; it is war Lite. (as war is the perfect expression of the imperative to destroy products and production, holocaust is the perfect expression of war)

instead of producing more, we do state-sponsored destruction of products and the productive forces behind them (esp. trade, labour) to align demand with production profitably - war is the final and perfect expression of this - instead of just producing what is possible, needed, and desirable.

this is the crisis; progress is possible, but not profitable under the way we organize society. there are only 2 options: 1. commit to progress and change the way we have organized society (the path of communism), 2. commit to the organization of society and resist progress (the path of fascism)

Bessent on the latest bad jobs report: "After the deportations that we've seen and the closing of the border, we don't need to produce as many jobs"

one good thing about the referendum is that these citizen initiatives can often count on an easy to mobilize base of engaged reactionaries beating an uninformed/apathetic public (i.e., pride flag bans) but anti-separatism is so big that down-ballot measures that may've passed have much worse odds.

when a group of family members do things that involve legally significant rights and duties, they think theyve found the cheat code and they dont do basic stuff to manage risk you would do in any other circumstances, but you tell them thats a bad idea and to do normal stuff, they get super defensive

i am skeptical of this decision - it makes two errors in law, in my estimation 1. that the repeal of a law is always prima facie constitutional. there are easy examples of laws that, if wholedace repealed, would amount to charter violations (elections act, criminal code, court of appeal act)...

"The legislature is free to legislate to remove a bicycle lane from a road – indeed, it may remove a road entirely – without implicating the Charter,,” says the Court of Appeal. Provincial government wins. coadecisions.ontariocourts.ca/coa/coa/en/i...

the suffering and madness the crew of a cursed ship experiences on its doomed voyage ig sounds really edgy and of the current moment, but i feel really bad for the ppl on that aircraft carrier.

an idea i am v interested in is "what does an antifascist call of duty look like"? a first person shooter is pretty simple from a game design and coding perspective, but involves alot of work modeling/animating, so i am putting in reps in blender when work is slow. "high poly" player weapon.

this is true and my theory is that the twitter/tumblr test is whether or not you can talk directly to your reps (you can on twitter, vs here, a tumblr, where they just post or cross-post, but don't actually use the site).

The Calvin's dad record meme. This is a repurposed "all videogames are menus, or parkour" talking about social media platforms.
Panel 1 - "on SOCIAL MEDIA? I'll show you something interesting"
Panel 2 - "the two types of SOCIAL MEDIA are TWITTER and TUMBLR. All WEBSITES fall into these two categories. INSTAGRAM? TWITTER. PINTREST? TUMBLR"
Panel 3 - "GACHA LIFE? TUMBLR. LINKDIN? TWITTER. despite being a TWITTER CLONE, BLUESKY is TUMBLR."
Panel 4 - calvin in bed, angry, unable to sleep.

i think its kinda funny that by the cops choosing gunmetal grey f-150s for their unmarked vehicles, they cause everyone to drive the speed limit around one, vexxing the specific kind of guy who'd wanna buy a gunmetal grey f150

wow the odyssey was a good movie! a thing that struck me reading the illiad is that homer hated war and didnt think it was like, glorious and cool even a little, so i really appreciated this adaptation.
