Learned that a lot of young Earth creationists now argue that microevolution is real but does not explain the diversity of species. Thus, they have recreated the 20th century schism between Darwinism and paleontology/genetics from 1st principles.

The "AI companies are buying old/rare books in bulk and shredding them to feed their models" is a rare case of me hating being right. Sources of real human language uninfluenced by chatbots are now extremely valuable, particularly those not on the internet. If you need old books, get them now.

At least a lawn can be transformed into a mini-biodiversity reservoir with insects, arthropods, and native plants. Even a golf course can have flowers and birds. Insane how we can finds billions to build datacenters but not invest in healthcare, education, real infrastructure, or jobs.

I love arguments that invoke water spent on golf courses, which is something environmentalists also oppose! A hundred years from now the water and land we are wasting will be seen as an insane thing of the past, similar to how we view people who ate mummies or slaughtered bison.

I'm reading the "environmentalists are wrong about data centers" piece from the NYT and ohmygoditssofuckingbad. Apparently, so long as you're punching left, they'll just let you say any goddamn thing you please... www.nytimes.com/2026/07/25/o...

Any invertebrate zoologists: looking for resources to store and properly curate extant specimens. Anything from boxes to advice. Have a teaching collection that needs love, because this type of thing makes me sad. I want to teach this part of the animal kingdom as best I can!
