To be a cyclist and to talk about the way that people act towards you while riding makes you sound insane to regular people. I find myself feeling self conscious talking about it because I think people genuinely do not believe the level of violence and danger we are subjected to on a regular basis.
Something I find particularly infuriating is that when you *do* act outraged over pedestrian deaths you are treated as hysterical and as if you're overreacting.
These Peltola ads are getting more and more direct.
Yes, what is pain to an entity with no body? What is "psychological" suffering to something which, if permitted" can dynamically alter its own memories and preferences?
if AI is conscious I think we do have ethical responsibilities towards it but it doesn’t follow that those responsibilities are grounded in the ethical precepts developed for embodied consciousnesses shaped like ~us. different things have different needs
People on Bluesky love to hate on AI so this is predictably getting dunked on, but every time I see someone post some shit like " s auto complete sentient? 😂😂" I just want to ask them, ok, what exactly do you think consciousness is? What evidence or framework led you to that conclusion?
Could AI be conscious?
To me, the Prestige is the ultimate Nolan movie. Just the perfect example of a tightly wound film. One where when you watch it the first time you have no idea what is going to happen, but upon its completion, you realize that it could not possibly have unfolded any other way
My Nolan ranking: 1. Oppenheimer 2. The Dark Knight 3. The Prestige 4. Inception 5. Memento 6. Dunkirk 7. Interstellar 8. The Odyssey 9. Batman Begins 10. Insomnia 11. The Dark Knight Rises
Look this is obvious lifestyle ragebait, but I just want to say that "the ultrawealthy outsource the raising of their children to hired help" is just about the oldest story in human civilization and I don't think I need to pretend otherwise.
I’ve been writing about the rich for years and ho boy, this one
Woah, haven't been following this, but I'm assuming that the Republican in the race is a sorta rugged macho guy? Like a real roughneck type? Gonna be tough for this Talarico dude to make inroads against a guy like that.
"He's a lightweight—a 90-pound weakling."
Yes this is a lot like chess in the sense that all of the pieces have been on the board, visible to everyone, the whole time.
AOC not getting behind Graham Platner looks like a chess move now.
Could not find the isolated pausa de hidratación anywhere, so I cropped one of the images I found and upscaled it using a GAN.
At the depths we're at, it can be lethal to inhale hopium this pure.
Iowa Senate poll (Fox News) Josh Turek 50% Ashley Hinson 46%
That's a nice argument, but in my mind I have already cast you as the slovenly Roganite and myself as the serene Machine of Loving Grace

You know I'm beginning to get the impression that maybe these supreme court decisions are not made in the spirit of "all men are brothers."
Justice Kagan, in dissent, emphasizes that Alito and the majority are too cowardly to even print Donald Trump's bigoted statements in their opinion, only giving them summaries which drastically downplay their severity. She is right. The majority is endorsing racism.
I do sometimes wonder if we had been able to juice demand *without* the COVID supply shocks (e.g. with a stronger fiscal response in 2009) if it would have gone over better.
Big problem here is that we had an economy with lots of jobs and increasing wages and people got Very Angry about it.
*nodding sagely* ah yes, the 'no queer scotsperson' argument
There’s a type of LGBT jerk who is basically the Wario to the jerks who are like “I’m not like those other freaks, I‘m normal.” The “Don’t Pick Me,” if you will. The “Don’t Pick Me” says they alone are the radical true kind of queer and everyone else is basically a cishet Republican.
Wrong: Pokemon go to the polls is legendary to this day.
Pokemon go to the polls would have been legendary if people had actually gone to the polls and voted Dem
HAHAHAhaha! they're making the world's biggest synthetic scum pond!!! The coating is a polyurea used inside pipes. It gels in about 3 seconds, making it non self-leveling. The texture is like an orange peel, the perfect substrate for biofilms. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/19/u...
This video appears to confirm it was a Russian air-defense missile — not a Ukrainian drone — that blew up that Moscow refinery’s storage tank today, creating the "flying saucer" footage. (This video was shared on Telegram by Russian military expert Yan Matveev.) t.me/arrowsmap/11...
Incredible levels of palace intrigue to have Marco Rubio, the literal SECRETARY OF STATE, skate by on this one, but I guess thems the breaks.
This is so manifestly unfair, and it's exactly what the little worm deserves.
Oh look it's the Minister of Used Car Sales for Irkutsk Oblast
my man looking like the baby from the Teletubby sun grew up to be an alcoholic
You couldn't make *spins wheel* catdog today because of *rolls dice* the trans agenda.
Every so often, some washed up sitcom dude do this sort of thing where they pretend that they made some truly edgy and controversial comedy that couldn't be made today, and it's just like... you're saying this about THE OFFICE?
75000 employees is a small price to pay for world peace.
This is why I wake up in the morning. Myopic critics pan my life's work as just building some SaaS company. But how many SaaS's have been instrumental to matters of war and peace? Without Docusign, thousands more would needlessly die. At Docusign, we are literally saving lives.
Again it really fucking sucks that we're dealing with this stage of LLM development and the people in charge of regulating it are composed entirely of corrupt morons who lie constantly.
Just FYI on Anthropic's Fable 5 fiasco.
