For my book I’m looking to interview people who have an experience of “the danger of a single story.” Have you had an experience where you felt reduced to one storyline, maybe some category (race, gender, sexuality, etc.), or some other thing that seemed to trump everything else about you?

Gay parenting level unlocked: my kids are currently debating the best George Michael song. (Though, because they are children, the debate is between Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go and Last Christmas.)
