Should the Bengals use more play action? They don't generate explosives with PA Being blitzed on PA looks correlated with explosive play rate! But in the last 2 years Burrow is the least-blitzed QB on PA per TruMedia. Jackson other extreme, and punishes teams for it
Also if you are wondering how the Bengals incorporate "consensus boards" and mock drafts in their process...
Part 2 with Mike Potts is also up now! I had film questions about every draft pick so you can get some extra insight into how the Bengals' front office views their new additions. Links in next post!
Bengals fans, we have 2 episodes with Assistant GM Mike Potts! Part 1 on the Lawrence trade, linebackers, veteran moves today! Tomorrow, we break down each draft pick with Potts. 🔗YouTube: youtu.be/hkMofCiMQLE Apple: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/l... Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/01wh...

Bengals hitting dingers in round 6 and 7 is not a planet I'm used to living on Fun draft this year! Some questions in 3 and 4, but overall they got good value and guys who can help throughout, and that's exciting Throw Sexy Dexy in with the 10th pick and this is quite a group
The Bengals may not have a first round draft pick anymore, but Joe Goodberry and I will still be streaming day 1 AND day 2 of the draft this year! All of round 1, and day 2 until the 3rd round pick at least Joe might get drunk, who knows tbh Links in the next post! ⬇️⬇️⬇️
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is such a great movie AND it involves some of my favorite television creators: Severance (Stiller, Scott, Ólafsson) and Steven Conrad (Patriot, DTF St. Louis)
Years ago, I started working with Joe Goodberry on a draft doc with as much predictive data as we could find as guardrails for the film at the center of it all Tons of amazing draft info in this spreadsheet Feel free to ask questions! Here's the 2026 edition docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

Curious about what Jonathan Allen brings to the table? Here's my chat with Locked On Vikings' @lukebraunnfl.bsky.social, noted film grinder, where we dig into it! www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Nbl...
Expectation Setting For Jonathan Allen: How Much Juice Will he Bring Bengals Pass Rush?

Joe Burrow threw some real pinpoint passes yesterday, this one maybe the most forgotten of them all
Wonder if the NFL actually enjoys their inconsistent officiating. People obviously haven't stopped watching, and it generates more conversation around their brand. Perverse incentive?
Allen acts a bunch now but that’s a blatant penalty on Queen. He launches at Allen after Allen slides. Wild
The Bengals are making a BIG addition to the offensive line room. @jakeliscow.bsky.social and I react to the Dalton Risner signing, re-grade the Bengals' offseason and much more!! Apple: apple.co/3GkMwKM Spotify: spoti.fi/3viMvR2 YouTube: youtu.be/5-gjh2P4ZLA
Whether or not the Bengals are really trying to trade Trey, there's clearly an impasse. All of this was avoidable. Pay him early? You've saved money and avoided embarrassment. Trade him for picks before the draft? A lesser evil at least. Drag it out for maximum drama and embarrassment? The worst.
Endless storylines for TNF tonight! Lou Anarumo vs. former division rival Baltimore, Bengals taking on the Super Bowl Champions, Pete Carroll vs. his former team! How does the NFL do it? Sure, it's satire, but there are some starters playing too!
Which teams produced UDFA classes most likely to make an impact? Can we tell how valuable a UDFA is before they even practice? How should we calibrate our expectations for players by round? That and more
Used a model combining guaranteed money and consensus board rankings to figure out which UDFAs were most likely to make their respective rosters www.wideleft.football/p/using-guar...
We've got the first of a 2-parter with Mike Potts available now! We start with a lot of talk on Shemar Stewart and how the board game together. Talked about trades as well. Tomorrow we focus on picks 2-6. Really insightful stuff. Apple: apple.co/3GkMwKM YouTube: youtu.be/NBXsK6byucQ

Here's the depressing Bengals cap update tl;dr: inflated y1 cap hits to squeeze 2025 cap space way more than necessary, "preventing" themselves from going after moderate veteran deals that could have helped them push the roster
Can't update #Bengals cap for Chase's contract yet, but here's an update with available info for Tee & Ja'Marr and the cap hit updated for Tee Lots of cap, enough cash for a few moves within their projected budget. If they extend Trey, tighter for cash unless they're gonna spend more than normal.
This is a great breakdown of what T.J. Slaton could bring to the Bengals' defense and the value of a nose tackle in today's NFL⬇️⬇️

Think Ben and Mina did a tremendous job in their segment on the Chase+Higgins extension & discussion on the Bengals defense overall! A clear-eyed outside perspective here.
New pod! @benjaminsolak.bsky.social returns to discuss -the Bengals’ big moves -what the Chargers and Pats should do to help their QBs -Seattle, Chicago and more 🎧: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t... 📺: youtu.be/ckEiC5G-P6A?...
Will definitely discuss the cap impact - and cash impact - when we have those numbers! Might be a day or two.
@jakeliscow.bsky.social as soon as you have the cap numbers would you please share them as well here? Thanks
Summarizing my Day 1 Bengals FA thoughts if that's it for the night: - All of the moves make sense individually. They're mostly floor-raisers, not game-changers, but you need those. - Pass rush concerns persist. What's the plan? Trey has to be back on the table.
I like the BJ Hill move for Cincinnati. Solid player, they needed a floor player there with the young guys they're waiting to develop, and Hill is good at that. Fair deal too!
BJ Hill back to the Bengals for 3-years, $33M per Schefty. He deserves it and this does not preclude them from getting deals done with Chase & Higgins done but I can only imagine the reaction of Bengals fans when these non-WR extensions get reported.
If you're here because it's working, I'm streaming with Joe Goodberry on Twitch and YouTube for now to talk Bengals free agency www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSc_... www.twitch.tv/whojey
