This doesn't mean scientists should retreat from politics - rather, quite the opposite. Modern societies NEED scientists participating in public debates. Scientists NEED to participate in advocating for evidence-informed policymaking.
Advisory boards are being eliminated or reconstituted. Peer review is under threat. Scientific leaders have been ousted and replaced by political appointees, whose priorities privilege ideological alignment over scientific independence.
re-upping this because voting for Democrats for House and Senate in the 2026 and House, Senate, AND White House in 2028 election cycles and beyond is the only way to escape this hell.
