I met with Yewande, who is a Kinship Navigator. Kinship carers are family or friends who care for a child when their parents are unable to. We spoke about the challenges facing local kinship families and how they often go unrecognised.

It may be parliamentary recess but our work in West Ham and Beckton has not stopped. Last month we helped 778 residents with issues ranging from antisocial behaviour reports, to VISA issues and leaseholder repairs.

I visited Haven House Chidren’s Hospice which cares for seriously ill babies and children. They support families from across East and North East London and have increased their catchment area after the closure of Richard House. Thank you @havenhousech.bsky.social

Last night I joined the vigil in Soho Sq to remember those killed & injured in the attack in Berlin Organised by Stonewall & Pride London, the community came together in unity & support of Berlin & against prejudice. It was good to see the Mayor of London & German Embassy there

I know that phone thefts are affecting my constituents, it’s raised at a neighbourhood safety forums, in classrooms and I’ve seen it myself. Just before recess I asked whether companies could be doing more so that phone thieves cannot continue to profit from their crimes.

I met with leaseholders in West Ham and Beckton at this targeted advice surgery, if you are a leaseholder and are having issues please get in touch. I will continue to challenge managing agents on your behalf and take your experiences with me to Parliament to push for change.

Shoplifting remains a key concern for my constituents who have seen it firsthand and our businesses who have been targeted. I asked the Home Secretary what more can be done to tackle high street crime and what could be learnt from the police’s approach in West Ham and Beckton.

Respiratory conditions including COPD, asthma and pulmonary TB are affecting thousands of people in West Ham and Beckton. Improvements to diagnosis, treatment, and support through a national plan would help the millions living with lung conditions across the UK.

Today is the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica. Today we remember the 8,372 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were killed in July 1995. It is our duty to remember those who lost their lives and honour the survivors.

I will continue to work with organisations like Port of London Authority to provide the skills and info needed to stay safe around water. These places are part of everyday life, but they can become dangerous quickly. We must do more so that no other family goes through grief like this.

As we all try to manage another heatwave I asked about the Government’s plans for tree planting. The shade from trees can reduce the temperature by up to 8 degrees. More affluent areas are much more likely to have tree coverage, something that should change.

I joined the debate on leasehold reform to raise the issues that my constituents are facing. The response I got from FirstPort is unfortunately not a one off, which is why I’m pushing for a central regulatory body for managing agents.

I joined the members of the Newham Pupil Parliament, it was really interesting to hear their thoughts on AI. It was good to see the students so engaged, pupil parliaments are a great way to practice participating in democracy and learn leadership skills.

In June, me and the team were able to help resolve issues for 523 constituents including problems in their homes, jobs, streets and schools.

My constituent told me that her family in Sudan only had enough time “to grab their flip flops and run for their lives” I asked the government to use their weight and influence to prioritise protection of the civilian population and humanitarian relief.
