"It’s a far cry from the open-armed optimism of mid-century Canada, which saw Viljo Revell’s design for Toronto City Hall picked in an open competition, or Montreal’s decision to build Moshe Safdie’s Master’s thesis project as Habitat 67."
An excellent editorial on #24Sussex via @canadianarchitect.bsky.social it really begs the question on what role for advocacy the RAIC has in this process 1/ www.canadianarchitect.com/editorial-re...

Do you suppose the Rolling Stones "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'" was inspired by Wuthering Heights?
From @theathleticfc.bsky.social: Canada defeated Qatar, 6-0, to earn the country's first-ever victory at a men's World Cup. A hat-trick for Jonathan David, whose celebrations are muted following Ismael Kone's injury. nyti.ms/3SlNiQ0
I'm finding Bluesky to be about as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle. I can't seem to encourage any interaction whatsoever. Every day some obscure nutcase follows me and that's about as exciting as it gets.
I will be at Coles Bookstore in the Avalon Mall this Saturday afternoon, along with a number of other outstanding authors, to sign copies of my latest novel, Vicory. I hope to see some old friends. I promise to explain the name and the cover! Please share!
A plea to my followers out there (I have over 600, surely a few of you must be interested): My second novel was launched last month! How about purchasing a copy and making my publisher really happy?! www.merlinstarpress.com/bookstore#!/... #historicalfiction #guernicaprize
Thank you so much MFrance Turcotte for that lovely little review of my novel "Vicory". There's not much more that a writer could ask for than when someone says "I couldn't put it down".
Finally start reading Vicory yesterday and read almost non stop until now (except for the hockey game of the Canadiens).Hard to put it down. Slow start as I looked for locations, every words I did not know about and Newfoundland English. It makes me want to see all those places. Good read, really.
It's my Birthday today. Buy my book! Help me celebrate! www.merlinstarpress.com/bookstore#!/...

If you have a choice today between watching Liverpool FC with Arne Slot or Gardening World with Monty Don, I suggest the latter, as the pace is a great deal faster.
To pronounce Newfoundland properly, we say that it rhymes with understand. To understand Newfoundland, you should read my latest novel: Vicory. www.merlinstarpress.com/home/bookstore Please share.

If you love a book, write a nice review. It gives the author encouragement for bad days when they want to take up scorpion petting. - @lianabrooks.bsky.social #WriterSky #BookSky #ReaderSky
Authors: So do you think a video of you opening the first box of books of your published novel (and posting it) is a bit corny? Asking for a friend...

Weather is awful and I'm staying in. Made a cappuccino. Having it in a bowl...like they do in Montreal. Very French.
The cover reveal for my new novel got nobody's attention. So here's a picture of my dog.

I have been doing my best to support other writers on this platform. I really have. So the other day when I posted the cover reveal for my second novel, I expected a few likes at the very least. But I got zero. Did better on X if you can believe it.

Cover Reveal ! The artwork for my latest novel (in bookstores soon) is stunning and I have to thank Merlin Star Press & Brian Branch (Branch Graphic Design). Explaining the details of a cod trap to those who don't come from a fishing culture is not easy. Especially when the view is from the bottom!
They say that not reverting to profanity is a sign of strength, self-control and superior communication skills. According to this paradigm, ICE is the polar opposite.
