410+ Booted Eagles Passed over Cazalla this afternoon. Hundreds more very distant specs could be seen in the distance.
Some recent well performing Short-toed Eagles as they reach the Spanish mainland from Morocco.
One morning off from rain and the Short-toed Eagles took their chance. I conservatively marked 380 but I'm sure thousands crossed the Strait today. Also, 300 Black Kites, one Alimoche, two Osprey.
There were six Little Buntings in one tree on La Janda. Could still be more present. Also, several Rustic Buntings
La Janda region gave up a few bits after a struggle. Also, 35 Stone Curlews, 2-3 Black Storks an adult Bluethroat.
One of two White-winged Black Terns in Laayoune on Monday 27th Jan 2025..
I stopped off at Le Teich, near Bordeaux on my ride south. The Night Herons are in the exact same trees as 5 years ago. Both times I've been here have been very wet with intermittent sunshine.
A visit to Seaford and Cuckmere on a sunny day before the rainy season commences for Snow Bunting and Goosander (3 in total).
I went to visit the Pied Wheatear at Seaford yesterday. For 4.5 hours. Weather was nice or I wouldn't have stayed so long.
I've visited two local rarities so far this November. Simon's Pied Wheatear at Seaford and the Rose-coloured Starling at St Mags., directly after disembarking at Dover. Unhappily, I missed the Bell Tout Desert Wheatear at one oh my regular patches by two days. 🫥
My last day on Öland finished with 7 Bewick Swans, 4 Whoopers, 2 Goshawk and a Snow Bunting.
This morning's offerings are Lapland Bunting and Rough-legged Buzzard in place of the Richard's Pipit which seems to have finally left.
Just about managed to photograph the Richard's Pipit that's been sneaking around for about 5 days in Southern Öland. Also today, Rough-legged Buzzards and White- tailed Eagles.
