I am such a team player. Whilst my wife goes out for a run, I’ve eaten the last third of the ripe, unpasteurised, creamy and flavourful Camembert D’Isigny Sainte-Mère because it was smelling out the fridge. She truly doesn’t know how lucky she is…

I am informed this morning that my mother seems to have instigated some sort of Marxist U3A current affairs splinter group. They meet away from the rest of the U3A group at different members’ houses. Has my mother created a rural-based Weather Underground?!

@garethdennis.uk can I petition for (another) Railnatter on improving resilience in an era of a changing climate? We’re now over a week into an almost complete rebuild of the Tarka Line trackbed thanks to rain and weather. For a route touted as a potential DAL… we need to do better!

Hey @theguardian.com … you know there’s been a major incident in Somerset and you’re still pushing the bullshit about Diane Abbott. The Daily Mail has this as their main story and you’re pushing some rank political agenda instead. It’s shameful and exposes your politics fully.

The kids’ nan brought some old Railway magazines for them… and my 4yr old announced “ooh, a party train” at the Parry People Mover. So their education is going fine thanks for asking.

Rachel Reeves making a joke about The Two Chairmen is some real niche Whitehall humour… though I do now look forward to Heidi Alexander referencing The Loose Box and Wes Streeting the Plume of Feathers.

What if, and hear me out here, DOGE was actually cover for the 21st century’s watergate and they were all throughout government like the White House plumbers looking for those Epstein files…

@davidallengreen.bsky.social on your Public Procurement point… there has been substantial reform undertaken that went live this Feb, which included the National Procurement Policy Statement. That NPPS can (and should) be used to support any defence industrial strategy that should exist. Fingers x’d.

Taiwan?!? He’s putting a massive tariff on Taiwan? Does the man not have anyone around him who could whisper to him “TSMC are kind of a big deal sir, and this will cripple the semiconductor industry”. Dumb it down a bit more than that if you have to… this is going to be carnage.

Having just finished part 1 of @edconway.bsky.social Material World I, even as a supply chain professional, was left astounded at “The Longest Journey”. It should be required reading for anyone who thinks re-shoring as a protectionist ideology would work. It simply cannot happen!

The USA, China and Russia are the enemies of free, sovereign countries and are now an axis of power facing against Europe, the UK and the free world. There, I said it.

Some people in recent days have alleged a ‘cover-up’ over the grooming & rape of hundreds of young girls in predominantly northern UK towns, leading to calls for a ‘national’ public inquiry into child sexual exploitation FWIW here’s a non-exhaustive list of inquiries into #CSE in last 12 yrs…

All this waffle about a re-run of a vote… I thought the losers were supposed to just “get on with it” or “make it work”?! What’s the limitation on re-runs? Is 8 years too long?

All the WORKING farmers I know (and it’s a few) weren’t in London because; 1. They were working and 2. They, following the advice of the NFU, put their farms into family trusts years ago. The last of them did it this summer…because the NFU tipped them off. Don’t fall for the bluster from the rich!
