ICYMI: Spain has declared a national emergency over “totally apocalyptic” wildfires for the first time in its history. Meanwhile, in France, the blazes have triggered what the interior minister said was “probably the largest peacetime evacuation in the country’s history”. #DontLookUp

Oh FFS! Trump refusing to leave the stage while Spain lift the World Cup - with Infantino awkwardly trying to drag him out of shot - couldn’t sum this WC up better. It’s a naked flex on the Spanish government + a pre-meditated dead cat to get the news on his actions instead of Spain and/or Iran.

The English national anthem SUCKS! Begging a God most of us don’t believe in to “save” some corrupt, unelected billionaire. How are any of us meant to connect with that? It’s not even unique - we share it with Liechtenstein! Time for a new, modern anthem! Anyway, come on England! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

What links Brexit & the Iran War? Both are examples of the far-right swapping good deals - painstakingly negotiated by superior minds over many years - for a vastly inferior deal while cheerleaders revel in disinformation, hysteria & paranoia. Trump. Farage. Same playbook. Same miserable outcomes.

Despite the usual nonsense peddled by the right - who were absolutely gagging for war, and then suddenly weren’t - Keir Starmer has played the Iran conflict almost perfectly. Donald Trump, meanwhile - the friend and role model of Nigel Farage - has embarrassed his nation and made us all less safe.

Trump, fearing the midterms/Epstein Files, decides to launch a war of distraction on Iran and nobody can tell him otherwise. Not his allies. Not his party. Not even his allies on Fox News. No one. Then he has one phone call with Putin and the war is “complete”. What does the KGB have on him?

Could one silver lining of the war in Iran be the belated (and richly deserved) creation of a Kurdish state? Of course, the US & Israel would only be interested if they could carve up Iran and project more power in the region, but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility. They did it with Kosovo.

Donald Trump yesterday: “We have three great candidates for a new, pro-American leader of Iran.” Donald Trump today: “Whoops. We’ve just accidentally killed them.” Stable genius.

The one thing I didn’t quite expect today was the hilariously unhinged reaction from the rightwing media. The female, working class plumber has them seriously rattled! Long may it continue.

Voting Brexit will save us. We didn't vote for this. Voting Boris will save us. We didn't vote for this. Voting Farage will save us. We didn't vote for this. Voting for that bloke with the swastika tattoo will save us. Argh... why does everything keep getting worse? I miss being able to vote.

Expecting Keir Starmer to fix the country in 19 months after 14 YEARS of vandalism and corruption is like expecting the new owner of Blockbuster to take on Netflix overnight. Have we completely lost our minds?

Who'd have thought that a man nicknamed the “Prince of Darkness” would turn out to be a dark character embedded in an even darker world? Keir Starmer must now launch a judge-led public inquiry and show the world that some countries still respect justice, accountability, and the rule of law.

ICE have just killed another person. They surrounded him. They beat him. They shot & killed him. This is fascism. Anyone with a brain could see it coming from at least 2016. Civil war is edging closer and with it, the end of American democracy. It’s coming for Britain, too, via Nigel Farage.

A genuine question for Nigel Farage supporters: With Donald Trump and Viktor Orbán, authoritarian strongmen mired in corruption and assaults on democracy, now polling worse than ever, why do you think Farage and Reform would turn out any differently? It’s almost as if they don’t have an answer…

Romania’s constitutional court has annulled the first round of the presidential election after declassified intelligence showed Russia ran a secret campaign on TikTok and Telegram to promote the Far Right first round winner Calin Georgescu, a complete outsider. This is how you do it.

Here’s hoping Blue Sky can rebuild the public square of old- with rules and decency. If you’re campaigning on Europe, climate, electoral reform, education, republicanism or democracy, then let’s connect!
