While this may be Boaty's first adventure under a glacier, its predecessor, Autosub2 surveyed under ice in the same area over 20 years ago. www.bodc.ac.uk/resources/in...

Boaty McBoatface has returned from its first expedition under glacial mélange! Our friends at @noc.ac.uk sent the UK's favourite submarine on a 23hr mission from the RRS Sir David Attenborough. This data will help show how Greenland's glaciers interact with the fjords and oceans.

Another lazy politician using the "rent a pensioner" lady. She's unlikely to be really struggling - but she has a good PR agent. Poverty is an important issue but please use real people to illustrate your story because using professional pundits won't help the cause.

I can't afford to turn the oven on': 7.4m households struggling to buy essentials. Result of low income; high water, energy, housing costs, profiteering, frozen income tax personal allowance. 1% have more wealth than 70% of the population combined. Can't build better future without redistribution

Indeed, and that is why we need everyone to pull together in working towards genuine climate mitigation and adaptation. Astronomically expensive techofantasy concepts are distractions, not solutions, and giving them free, unbalanced publicity is not helpful.

Posts like this about the Belfast riots are really starting to annoy me. There seems to be no recognition from these left leaning commentators that we are coming up to the marching season where tensions are always hightened. I've fed up with facile takes on the situation.

History shows us there are 2 options when faced with a rising far right. 1. Deal with it quickly and decisively. 2. Let it win. The great majority reject it. But it doesn't need majority support: just enough thugs to intimidate everyone else. Weakness and indecision by government let it rise.

Guildford area Bass player wanted for August gigs - battle of the bands coming up on 14th August (first prize £10k) and a warm up gig at the Fiery Bird in Woking on either 31st July or 7th August - TBC. Would ideally love someone whose bass style is inspired by the Pixies, New Dad, Wet Leg.

We have a battle of the bands coming up on 14th August (first prize £10k) in Guildford and a warm up gig at the Fiery Bird in Woking on either 31st July or 7th August - TBC.

We need a bass player for original songs (i.e. you'll mainly be making the bass lines up, however there are songs with specific bass lines and riffs). Would ideally love someone whose bass style is inspired by the Pixies, New Dad, Wet Leg - basically chunky bass lines that are quite prominent in the songs.

We have videos and live recordings available on Instagram, Sound Cloud, YouTube, etc. All the links are available at www.sleeptalksounds.com

Today really shows how few music people there are here. Keith Morris died last night - not the photographer, but they keyboard player with The Green Hornets, promoter of 5 Bands for a Fiver at the Wedge and general all round good guy. There's nothing at all about him on Bluesky 😔 RIP Keith

It isn't just governments making the switch. My son and his teenage friends are using the same decentralised open source alternatives to the well known apps.

🚨🚨Welcome news: European governments are getting #WhatsApp and #Signal out of their system in a move which is part of Europe's search for alternatives to American technology, sparked by fears of being strategically dependent on Washington. 🧵 www.politico.eu/article/euro...
