Five scant minutes of rain this morning, after weeks of continuous sun. Barely settled the fucking dust.

I used to write comics professionally; now I occasionally write and publish novels and other stuff just for the hell of it. lepusbooks.co.uk
Topping up a pond in a heatwave hosepipe ban to keep your fish alive is an illegal and immoral waste of water... meanwhile, data centres...
Listening to the audio edition of Moore's "I Hear a New World" in garden shade, but a combination of oppressive heat and plump velvet cushions of prose are proving irresistibly soporific.
Beginning to feel we're in one of those wildlife documentaries where forlorn animals cluster despondent around a shrinking water hole...
Okay... that's enough now. Fuck dignity, I'm putting on some shorts.
An "adults only" camp site is not what you may suspect... merely an absence of children, replaced by ghastly pampered dogs. Personally, I think I'd rather have the children.
When first you arrive at your rural UK campsite, the sound of a song thrush calling atop an adjacent tree is delightful; after three days of trilling - non-stop from 03:30 to 21:30 - frankly you could do without it. #birds
I guess that having your GP practice phone hold music playing as an earworm in your head for 24 hours is a sign you've lately not been well...
Looks as if the local common lizard colony has survived another winter...
Voted. Took small pleasure in ignoring the smug, creepily friendly Reform chump running an exit poll.
Weird spring day. Surprisingly warm. Sat in garden lulled by drone of bees. Retired indoors; ate a pleasant meal. Spent the next several hours watching two houses in the terrace opposite reduced by fire to ruins. Thought about instant homelessness. Thought about missiles howling down from the sky
Just finished listening to audiobook of Patti Smith's memoir Bread of Angels. She reads it herself. Poetic and soporific. Can recommend if you like that sort of thing...
Enjoying Leepus: Dizzy by @jamiedelano.bsky.social of Hellblazer fame. In the ever-present tense of 'Inglund', and the dystopian aftermath of The Reduction, our hero fields unexpected challenges from nearly all remaining powers that be - to his friends, his home, possibly to his own identity...

Ailments: irritations that in youth generally come and go, but after a certain age accumulate relentless.
Recording of second audiobook in three months nearing completion; heartily sick now of the sound of my own voice. One more to go. I may thereafter consider a vow of silence.
In poker terms he's a 'maniac' who thinks he's a fucking 'eagle'. We're all the bloody chips.
Damn pigeons and collared doves are convinced it's spring; their constant amorous vocalisations outside my studio window are not conducive to calm audiobook recording.

Watched The Traitors for the first (and probably last) time, just to see... Weird celebration of self-absorbed mendacity and deception. Very 21st century.
