Danièle Sauvageau is a builder. She builds and always leaves things better than when she got there. Every single stop she has made. The Victoire is the latest example. Now she’s back to build Hockey Canada again. Being a builder in the HHOF was never more apt for her.

If you were going to name any player that fits in with what the Montreal Victoire have been trying to do this off-season to mitigate the injury of Marie-Philip Poulin, Michelle Karvinen is that person. This team is primed to contend despite missing their best player. #PWHL

You know what I feel bad about? Kids today who will never know the thrill of seeing the commissioner get on stage and say “we have a trade” and not having any idea what that trade is.

I’m not a basketball expert or anything but Paige Bueckers is a capital S Star. Marina Mabrey is great too. What a show they put on tonight. It was a game fitting the record-breaking occasion.

Jared is lying to you, he would have three nickels! Which is even cooler, though the coolest part might be that these latest records are so much bigger than the 2016 CWHL crowd that they feel like an entirely different historical category.

If I had a nickel for every time I saw a record-breaking women’s sports crowd at the Bell Centre I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s still cool as hell it happened twice.

It’s funny how some of the same people who called Sidney Crosby selfless for sitting out of the gold medal game are now calling Alphonso Davies selfish for sitting out when he wasn’t 100%.

Former Habs goalie Mike Condon, Victoire goalie coach Bruno-Pierre Guillemette, and Habs/Rocket goalie coach Marco Marciano among the group working with the goaltenders on the ice today.

This basically transfers 1.3M from their cap next year to this year as opposed to a buy out if they went that route. Makes sense for the Canadiens, and has better optics all around.

Jesse Marsch is perfect. He represents everything Canada is proud of and is proud to represent that even as someone not from here. But he also shows Americans why so many people think they’re so arrogant. Canada needs that arrogance sometimes. Especially in non-hockey sports.

After losing six players to expansion, and the news that Marie-Philip Poulin needs surgery and will be out long-term, there were reasons to be down on the defending champions. The Victoire reloaded and showed their competitive window is still wide open. #PWHL

Despite losses & injury to Marie-Philip Poulin, Victoire poised to contend

When the losses started piling up during the PWHL’s expansion process shortly after the Montreal Victoire were still celebrating their Walter Cup championship, it started to feel like an end of an era...

Montreal Victoire captain Marie-Philip Poulin will be out due to surgery following injuries stemming from the Olympics and the PWHL season. The operation will be completed in July. The team will provide updates throughout her recovery. #PWHL

The big thing that the Roque re-signing plus Eldridge, Nieminen and Maltais additions did for the Victoire is they insulate themselves from the potential of Marie-Philip Poulin missing time to start the season but in a way that the redundancy doesn't hurt them when Poulin is in. #PWHL

The Montreal Victoire will have a top 9 of: Abby Roque, Marie-Philip Poulin, Laura Stacey, Emma Maltais, Jessie Eldridge, Avi Adam, Petra Nieminen, Lina Ljungblom, and (likely) one of Dubois/Willoughby/Irving... Deepest forward group in the league.
