Candidate - Salt Lake County Council, District 3 Running to make a difference, not just make a point Secretary/Comms Salt Lake County Democratic Party

Be the kind of neighbor that has neighborhood kids feeling perfectly comfortable using your driveway as home plate for cul-de-sac wiffle ball games. I have some pretty awesome neighborhood kids and I’m so glad they (and their parents) view me and my house as a safe place.

Tonight my wife and I were honored to attend the Equality Utah Capitol Club dinner. We were lucky enough to share a table with new Executive Director Essie Gonzsen and I believe Equality Utah is in excellent hands. I’m sure excited to support this organization and the critical work in our community

So anyway … Yesterday was the Salt Lake County Democratic Party Nominating Convention and I was a candidate for Salt Lake County Council. After the delegate votes were counted, I did not advance and that is OK.

It’s Salt Lake County Democratic Convention today and I’m running for Salt Lake County Council in what I anticipate to be a close race for delegate votes. My Democratic opponent and I share probably 99 percent of the same values and positions, but the real, long-view, race is in November.

In Utah, in March, 4594 people updated their official party registration to Democratic. Meanwhile, 810 ditched the GOP. Utah Dem messaging to “come home” worked. Still a huge statewide gap, but slow & steady progress is being made. Might translate into a flipped state house or senate seat?

I’m making 40-50 calls to delegates every day. Most go to voicemail and that’s to be expected. But, I gotta tell you, the best chats and conversations I have are with the old people. Folks, old Democrats are freaking adorable. Can’t say that about old Republicans

Millions of American voters wanted to be villains. They came to believe it’s the key to success, while goodness is weak, woke, loser stuff, done only to signal. Offered the option of unvarnished villainy, they enthusiastically took it. Seeing others suffer more made them feel big. And here we are.

Dear Utah GOP, a few things about this picture I took this morning. 1. Caucus Night was three days ago. Clean up your trash. 2. Placing signs in the parking strip is technically illegal. Train your HD and precinct chairs better. 3. Sticking this outside a church? Ewww. Just, ewww. Also illegal.

What a night! Utah Caucus Night was an adventure. Met and spoke with hundreds of people in the heart of Salt Lake County to share my hopes to make a real difference in our community and lives.

Let them eat their own. He’s not just a ‘fall in line’ Republican, he’s also a conspiracy theorist who will eat the GOP from within. If he loses in the primary, he’ll run as a write in or independent and split the GOP vote, making UT-3 absolutely in play.

The options, Mike, are the same as they’ve been for years: Accept Prop 4 and quit being infants that whine about everything. I hope the Dems flip two seats in Utahn because of your un-American, anti-democracy power trips.

House Speaker Mike Schultz seemed to read the writing on the wall with the ruling: "It is a huge setback for this election cycle. We’re looking at what the options are," he told reporters: www.fox13now.com/news/politic...

Utahns don’t trust the Utah GOP. Yet another GOP signature gathering effort fails spectacularly. From the crash-and-burn Prop 4 repeal to a challenge of Salt Lake County’s tax rate hike (and let’s be honest, no one ‘likes’ tax hikes) they’re bad - comically bad - at signature gathering efforts.

At the Salt Lake County Council and they’ve discussed how the Utah GOP legislature voter suppression, I mean voter ‘security’ bills will force the county to pay an estimated $9.8 million to fund the state mandates and hire hundreds of paid poll workers, Sheriff officers & dozens of polling locations

This isn’t exactly a Salt Lake County Council issue, and yet it is. So here we are. Racism isn’t a dog whistle when it’s this blatant. Trump’s attack on the Obamas must be condemned — silence on this issue is complicity and enables hate. I stand for dignity and equality - always.

This campaign starts with conversations. Come meet me at Winchester Park on Saturday, Feb 7 at 4 PM for my Salt Lake County Council campaign launch. Ask questions, learn more about the campaign, make a donation if you’re able — and grab some pizza 🍕 I’d love to see you there.

Instead of voting to increase the minimum wage, or funding education, or funding childcare, or transit, or healthcare, or … anything that actually helps … The Utah GOP is all “here’s $45 in lower property taxes. Go get pregnant.”
