Tigers beat Mariners, 8-0. They're 4-0 since the decision to sell ahead of their trade deadline. Detroit moves within 4.5 games in AL Central, and within 1.5 games of Cleveland for last AL Wild Card.

Drew Anderson will jump into rotation and start for Tigers on Wednesday. Jackson Jobe has joined the club in Seattle but won’t be active until the weekend in San Francisco. He could line up to start when Tigers need a fifth starter Saturday.

Among the interesting post-trade deadline minor-league moves: Tigers promoted knuckleballer Kenny Serwa to Triple-A Toledo. Get past the middling season numbers, and Serwa had a 2.87 ERA over his last 10 starts with Erie, would’ve been lower if not for one disastrous outing.

Scott Harris took the blame for Tigers selling at the trade deadline. He also defended the timing of the Tarik Skubal sweepstakes. “There was a bidding war. … It almost got to a point of audible pain when they actually produced their best bold offers.” www.mlb.com/news/tigers-...

Harris explains Tigers' decision to sell, why they took Dodgers' Skubal offer

Jackson Jobe, wearing the Michigan Snowbirds jersey in his rehab start for High-A West Michigan, is back at it. His fastball topped out at 100 mph in scoreless first inning today. Could he slot into Tigers rotation shortly with Tarik Skubal traded and Casey Mize likely to follow?

Casey Mize’s scratch from his scheduled start tonight follows a velocity drop in his last outing that caught the attention of evaluators. Another outing might have given a chance to alleviate any concerns, but there might be enough interest regardless to not risk it. www.mlb.com/news/casey-m...

Mize scratched by Tigers as a non-injury precaution in advance of Trade Deadline

Casey Mize was bracing this week for what could be his final start as a Tiger. It turns out the former No. 1 overall pick might have already thrown his final pitch in a Detroit uniform.

Tigers have scratched Casey Mize from his scheduled start tonight at Athletics. No injury, just a cautionary move ahead of trade deadline Monday, similar to Jack Flaherty in 2024. Mize will start Tuesday at Seattle if not traded. Tigers will do a bullpen game tonight.
