Introvertia: That feeling when you know it's really in your best interest to talk to a friend but dammit, that means summoning the energy to do so.
I saw The Odyssey on IMAX 70mm in Chattanooga and it's a top 3 movie experience of my life. Absolutely astonishing. The theater was completely sold out, but I didn't hear a thing from anyone else during the entire showing. And then it was awed silence for several seconds after it ended. Incredible.
So, is the 3rd place game vs. England and France the One Hundred Minutes War?
It's impressive to me how far Portugal has gotten starting every game down a man, and voluntarily. What an inspiration to their fans. I hope they get thrashed by Spain.
Flying from ORD to CHA and the sun and clouds formed up just right to create this circular rainbow with the shadow of the plane in it.
I haven't played piano in front of people in over 25 years but I got roped into playing at my wonderful piano teacher's recital which will be 2 adults and like 25 kids. I've been working on this piece since December and it may be my most favorite that I have ever played. Schubert's Impromptu No. 3

Man, seeing someone who genuinely believes in good government of the people, by the people, and for the people is a small ray of hope for something better after we get through this moment.
Ever wonder how to get rid of a mattress? Or how to find resources for a neighbor in need? Call 311. 311 is contacted 100,000 times every day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. No call is too small. So on the anniversary of 311 (3/11), I decided to answer some of those calls myself.
A good friend of mine put this site together as taking the doctrine of hell to its logical, numerical conclusion was something that had profound importance in his own reevaluation of the belief system he grew up in: howbigishell.com The absurdity of it is hard to miss when presented like this.

Every single senior engineer that I have talked to in the last two weeks has had what I would call "existential melancholy." Our all-company meeting last Monday had the phrases "staring down the barrel of the end of our careers" and "preparing for the threat of rogue AI" spoken in total seriousness.

When I play D&D with the family, this is how the dogs arrange themselves.
I have taken many flights and usually small airports are awesome but occasionally they are hilariously bad. At Grand Rapids right now and my flight is hugely delayed because they only have one grounds crew and the flight at A1 was delayed.
This quote from Adam Serwer's incredible reporting in The Atlantic is one for the ages: www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
Getting rid of the rotting head of Bovino at the top does nothing to clean out the festering wound on America's civic body of an unaccountable and private army. I never once in my life imagined that the 3rd amendment would have relevance again, but here we are. Fuck ICE. Abolish ICE. ICE OUT.
"He shouldn't have brought a gun to a protest," is "she shouldn't have worn that dress," applied to murder.
Reposting this post that will be evergreen until it comes true.
I would love for the next Democratic president to have Sherman as a role model.
I saw 20 movies in the theater this year, which was about one every other week, and for funsies, here's my tier list of the ones I saw: S-tier (Loved) One Battle After Another Sinners
Our house backs up to a working farm but has about 100 yards of trees between it and the actual grass. Apparently, cows enjoy moseying around woods, which I didn't know because it has never happened in the six months we've lived here, and a whole bunch of them came by today.
I started taking piano lessons again this fall after almost 30 years of not taking them and I have found myself practicing two hours a day sometimes and not even noticing the time go by, which is something that almost never happened in my youth, though I loved playing and took lessons for 14 years.
