Last week, I visited Juniper Blessing’s memorial and met with trans students at UW to hear their experiences and the fear they felt after her killing. Trans people deserve to live as their full, authentic selves. I will continue to fight in Congress for them to do just that.

Dr. Tanya Shah worked at Nasser Hospital in Gaza, and now she’s telling the stories of the horrors she witnessed. We must continue to raise the alarm about the horrors happening to the people of Gaza and put an end to this destruction.

I’ve been notified of another death in ICE custody. This is the 55th death under Trump’s second term and the second reported death at Delaney Hall in less than 8 months. We must end the use of these deadly private prisons and reform our country’s cruel detention policies.

The vote to advance Todd Blanche’s nomination by Senate Republicans on the Judiciary Committee is disrespectful to survivors and Americans who want accountability. I call on Republican senators to find some courage and deny Todd Blanche confirmation. Full statement:

Jayapal Statement on Senate Judiciary Committee’s Advancement of Blanche Nomination for AG.

Statement includes text that reads: "There is zero evidence that Blanche intends to stop serving as Trump’s personal lawyer and will instead serve as the people’s lawyer for real justice. I call on Republican senators to find some courage and some conscience and deny Todd Blanche confirmation on the Senate Floor. The rubber stamping of this President and his destruction of our country, as he profits off American taxpayers and slashes healthcare, education and continues endless wars, must end."

I’m leading an amicus brief to the Supreme Court with Senator Whitehouse to allow states and local communities to hold Big Oil accountable for knowingly contributing to and lying about climate change. No immunity for Big Oil.

The Trump administration is sending tariff refunds, including $2.2 billion to Apple and $600 million to Amazon. But American consumers? $0. Once again, corporations get billions to line their pockets while Americans pay the price.

It was great to visit the recently completed 145th Street Corridor and I-5 Interchange Project in Shoreline, which has already made our city more accessible for visitors and residents alike. So cool to see the before photos alongside the completed project!

This week, I joined advocates and partners who were critical to the introduction of my Fresh Bucks for Fresh Produce Act — legislation that would take a successful Seattle anti-hunger program nationwide and give families money to buy produce. Let’s pass this bill!

Mary’s Place helps to keep families together and safe with a roof over their heads. I was proud to secure $1 million for the redevelopment of their family shelter in Burien and it was great to tour to see the progress being made this week.

The US economy is dramatically slowing down, but Trump is still focused on expanding his illegal war in Iran. The American people do not want this to continue. It's why the House passed my bipartisan War Powers Resolution last week. Trump must end this war.

News headline that reads: "Live Updates: Iran and U.S. trade more missile strikes as 5-month war appears to expand to Egypt"

Last night, I joined Soapbox Project for an important discussion on how we can advance environmental justice amidst the Trump administration’s attacks. It was such a hopeful, joyful, and productive conversation. This is what community looks like.

During these times, it is so important that we build bridges between communities to educate and empower each other. I was honored to receive the Bosnian American Institute’s Bridge Award. Thank you BAI for helping the Bosnian American community use their voices, and engage in democracy.

Members of Congress are continuing to buy and sell stocks as if they’re on Wall Street. They’re not doing it for the interest of their constituents — it’s in the interest of their pockets. We need a FULL ban on congressional stock trading.

Screenshot of a headline from CNBC, "SpaceX stock-purchasing by Congress members fuels conflict concerns."

Visit Jayapal.House.Gov/MassViolenceResources for mental health and trauma resources following last night’s mass shooting at Seattle Center. I will continue to provide more updates as information becomes available to me. Love you, Seattle.
