#DVpit #F #HF #NA #LGBT Systemic magic elitism is on the rise and a murderous pirate is on an unchecked rampage. Victory over both hinges on a virtuous thief and a noblewoman vigilante working together long enough to see their mission through. It may be harder than it seems.

#DVparty day 6! The next book draft I’m working on is currently titled The Anomaly, a sci-fi story far into the future where an intern on a space station accidentally stumbles across an intergalactic conspiracy while studying strange creatures!

#DVparty day 3! “Near silence. Gentle waves lapped at the docks, as well as the hull of a lone ship. Light winds blew through the grounds nearby, hardly disturbing the noble House that sat at the center. In the calm dark of night, peacefulness surrounded the Salvian estate. Almost.”

Final day of #PitchDis! Day 21! “Share anything about your book!” I made quite a few graphics and moodboards for #QueerPit a little bit ago, and here’s a variation of one that I didn’t share! I had a lot of fun doing the 21 days of PitchDis, and I’m very excited to submit my pitch!!

A moodboard to showcase the vibes of my current manuscript. There are nine images in a grid.
Upper left image: An old-fashioned looking ship on the water, with the horizon in the background.
Upper middle image: Two women waist deep in the sea, a woman with dark hair on the left and a woman with light hair on the right. They’re embracing and kissing.
Upper right image: A nondescript paper map with a compass overtop of it.
Center left image: A brown woman facing right with her head tilted slightly downward. A couple strands of hair obscure her face slightly, her hands are clasped together in front of her face.
Center middle image: Two longswords crossing in a duel. The background is a nondescript wooded area.
Center right image: A white woman facing left with her head tilted slightly upward. One of her hands is holding a strand of her hair.
Bottom left image: A close-up shot of the helm of a ship. Only the top half of the ship’s wheel is visible, there are ropes and sails in the background.
Bottom middle image: A hand with two large rings, one on the pointer finger and one on the ring finger. The hand rests on top of a paper map.
Bottom right image: A shot of an old-fashioned looking ship from behind and slightly to the right. The ship is on the water.

Day 20 of #PitchDis! “What’s your favorite thing about your book?” It’s really hard to pick just one thing! But if I must, I’m a little biased, but I love the banter between the two main characters. It was fun to write and I hope it will be fun to read!!

Day 19 of #PitchDis! “What would your main character’s Halloween costume be?” Kiana (thief character) would be something spooky, maybe like an elaborate ghost or zombie. Emeralda (noble lady character) would be something like a nymph, where she could cover herself in flowers!

Day 18 of #PitchDis! “Do you prefer writing alone or with other people?” Usually I write alone, which is just fine for me because I enjoy the peace and focus that comes with that. Though I do enjoy writing with other people around as well, it makes me feel more accountable for my task!

Day 16 of #PitchDis! “What genre do you plan to write next?” Well I’m planning a sequel to the historical fantasy I’m querying, though in the meantime, I’ve started a sci-fi novella that takes place on a space station!

Day 15 of #PitchDis! “What’s your favorite book with a disabled/neurodivergent/chronically ill character?” Wonder has a special place in my heart! Unfortunately, I don’t have too many books with disabled rep on my shelf, drop some in the SFFH genres if you have any!

Also late but #PitchDis day 14! “Give a shoutout to your favorite critique partner/reader” It’s hard to have a favorite critique partner, since I love and appreciate them all! However, I think my favorite reader is one of my best friends, who always has the best reactions to my writing!

A little late but #PitchDis day 12! “If your book was a song title what would it be?” By only the title, I’d say ‘Always On the Run’ (by Lenny Kravitz) since one protagonist is on the run from the law, and the other is on the run from her family. Could probably also make a Hozier title work!

Day 11 of #PitchDis! “Tell us about your favorite secondary character in your story” She’s a pirate captain of an all-women pirate crew with little tolerance for male shenanigans. She’s intelligent, clever, cunning, and a lot of fun to write!

Day 10 of #PitchDis! “Did something in particular inspire you to write this story?” Yes! The clifftop sword fight scene in The Princess Bride inspired the first scene that I wrote in my book. The thought was ‘what if I added even more homoerotic tension?’

Day 8 of #PitchDis! “Do you usually overwrite or underwrite?” Honestly it varies, I’m really not sure if I lean more toward one or the other. Sometimes there will be writing I skim on, other times there will be writing I fluff up way too much

Day 6 of #PitchDis! “Are you a plotter or pantser?” I definitely try to be a plotter I more than I realistically am haha, I like having a roadmap for where my book is going, but sometimes the vibes are leading the way

Day 5 of #PitchDis! “Tell us about your main characters” Kiana is a Robin Hood-style thief who enjoys getting back at the system, and Emeralda is a noblewoman turned seafaring vigilante who wants to do good in the world. Together, they end up doing a bit of both!

Day four of #PitchDis ! “Is there a common theme in your books?” A couple of things that tend to pop up quite a lot in my writing are queer representation of all kinds, and fighting against systemic norms/an oppressive system. The novel I’m going to query for this event has both!
