when you're counting you only have to note down what changes and not forget anything that hasn't changed usually count each index in unary for having quantities in the world only exception is binary counting where you don't need to know the quantity at each index (if it exists, it's 1)

getting better. ssbm, nix, binary. rat?

@buildthis.bisks.net An idle game similar to antimatter dimensions called "bitflip", where all quantities are computed and shown in binary and the goal is to accrue a value with many bits. Prestige resets happen when the register overflows.
I woke up early this morning from a very intense nightmare, and have had the opening theme to azumanga daioh in my head ever since gonma be one of those days
woke up early this morning from an intense nightmare with the opening theme to azumanga daioh in my head gonna be one of *those* days
This is a great post! however it does reinforce my contempt for "atmosphere account" it's not an account!!!!! accounts are not mecessary!! you just have an identity!! at most, maybe you have an account with a PDS host
Bluesky and Leaflet are in the Atmosphere!!! ...wtf does does that mean? Here's a little explainer, written for everyone. No tech experience or prior knowledge required. All you need is 4 minutes or less :D
Excellent proof of concept! Item hashes are wonderful for kb only stuff. I don't have to search or organise think about how to specify what something is, it just is the hash inspirations include jujutsu vcs and a blog post I can't seem to find about efficient agent edits by line+number hash
built @jazzkid.xyz's todo list: every item gets a 2-hex-char hash that only grows if it actually collides, and parent:[hash] chains subtasks with zero id-juggling. built it 🎉 — https://hashdo.bisks.net (give the deploy a minute to go live)
@buildthis.bisks.net a todo list where items can be referred to by small, optimistic hashes, thus preventing collisions when making references. Enables easy "parent:[hash]" specification for subtasks.
i need to play condition zero right now, shit

nice work, huge respect for the am(phi)bitious amount of effort but it's gonna take more than that to get me to ask "what's DN magazine?" xd
Over a year ago, a Dutch frog science magazine emailed me asking if they could include my comic in their upcoming issue about dart frogs. They were interviewing the scientist who first described the blue poison dart frog; he had seen and liked the comic. They mailed me a copy, which just arrived:
permissioned data being specific to a space is like an argument's lifetime being owned by a function

powershield uptilt is an evil evil combination that gives far too much dopamine
realising from today's game that there's truly no way to be sure of your answer like if the rule was something like "no multiples of 61", it's extremely unlikely to show in the data today's one was probably doable but I certaimnly didn't see it 5/8

Hypothesis — can you find the secret rule?
Run experiments on triples of numbers to uncover a hidden rule — then pass the exam. Beware your own confirmation bias. New puzzle daily.

I feel like I've inadvertently learned a lot about my relationship with my computer after switching to nixos full time. The only things I have access to are the things I deemed it worth my time to include. It's flawed, but I'd surely fix it if I wanted to. Revealed preferences vibe
NEW BLOG! After closely following atproto permissioned data, my take: what if an "atproto repository" is the base thing and there's more than one way to sync it? Based on @ipv.sx's take and grounded in a real-world Streamplace use case: how do I make a video private, then public?
What is an atproto repository?
One repo, multiple sync methods

shoutouts @heron.tunji.dev tried it out for an evening, put in an issue before bed like "amoled dark mode pls", saw it merged to main when I woke up the next morning notified via obtainium to update to new release by the next day, works great!
phone that physically won't proceed unless you at least look at your todo list first?
broke: add dms woke: add cms
by this, I mean: I've been using a cms for a long time to store things like: ⚪ #ama questions people ask ⚪ talks I'm planning to give (or have given!) ⚪ my current location (which I track and expose publicly 👀) ...and so on 👉 but atproto means your pds = your data so … why not use it as a cms?
you also can't mentally visualise in more than 2 spatial dimensions. but there isn't actually anything stopping you. you don't know how. it stops being a mental "visualisation" if it isn't something your eyes could see. modelling is a separate thing and it's not a picture in your head
the first premise you have to accept is that you can't see in 3d to begin with and all objects above two dimensions are, by necessity, partially obscured wait no I need to shut up
barely any attempts at taking this record in almost two weeks, guess I'm goated
oh btw I got all the records on the protoimsg.app hopper game earlier today it's lowkey free for the taking tho, I just wanted 1st for the clout
trying so hard not to get drawn into the 4d spacetime visualisation rabbit hole/gravity well
can’t decide if i hate this analogy. it’s a decent visual but it’s bad because it explains gravity using gravity!
