📢 Paper alert! 🌲 How do disturbances affect species and structural diversity in European forests? Are disturbed forests more sensitive to subsequent disturbances? Read our new paper, led by #NikoKulha and with @gkunstler.bsky.social, @mikkopel.bsky.social, to find out more! doi.org/10.1111/geb....

Structural and Compositional Disturbance Legacies Mediate the Resistance of European Forests to Repeated Disturbances

Aim Climate change is altering forest disturbance regimes across Europe. Structural and species diversity are generally thought to enhance disturbance resistance. However, how disturbances affect st.....

🚨 PhD Opportunity 🚨 🌱🔥We're offering a funded PhD position at @inrae-paca.bsky.social to investigate how tree species functional strategies and fire recurrence shape the resilience of Mediterranean forests and their ecosystem services. 🌍 📩 To apply (in French) : jobs.inrae.fr/ot-25708

The first paper from Natheo Beauchamp's PhD explores how competition for light influences tree growth & survival of over a million trees across Europe, showing that the effect of light competition decreases in stressful climates. besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Light competition affects how tree growth and survival respond to climate

We analysed the effect of light competition on tree growth and survival along both temperature and aridity gradients for the 33 major European tree species. We used forest data from nine European cou...
