Painting with gouache outside on a gloomy winter day - still fills me with joy #gouache #pleinair #sketchbook
I find painting waves soooo hard! But that makes it extra satisfying when it works. This is gouache on beige paper - a delightful combo #gouache #pleinair #sketchbook
Exhibition excitement leads to unflattering photos. But the painting still looks good! #watercolour #birds #painting #art
Fungi in gouache! I used loads of 'dry brush' effect to give the impression of moss and forest floor-y stuff #gouache #fungi #sketchbook #ArtYear
I started to worry that this painting was heading in an unforeseen direction - but I think I saved it from being accidentally nsfw. #gouache #sketchbook #painting #fungi #nature
Painting outside on a delicious autumn afternoon. Recharges my soul every time #pleinair #gouache #sketchbook
Allowing yourself the freedom to play with your materials can lead to the best accidents ✨ #gouache #ArtYear #painting #sketchbook #creativity
His tail can sense when I'm about to take a photo... #gouache #painting #pleinair #sketchbook #ArtYear
What can you create in 2 minutes? Try it out - It's really fun, exciting, and freeing! It won't make your cat respect you though... #gouache #creativity #ArtYear #sketchbook #painting
I love a backlit scene. I wish I had a word for the feeling it gives me 🌱 #gouache #ArtYear #sketchbook #painting #pleinair
I really needed a dose of creativity today, so I sat in the sun in the garden and painted another quince. It felt so darn good. What scratches your creative itch? #gouache #pleinair #sketchbook
Scared to start a new sketchbook? Tell your frontal lobe to take a break and just make a mark! I focused entirely on the enjoyment of putting pen to paper, the feeling of the ink flowing over the surface, the joy of accidental marks when the wind blew the page. It was delicious. #sketchbook #ink
#pleinairpril day 5! Another quince study. I just love the way the green fruit seems to glow. #ArtYear #gouache #sketchbook #painting
www.jbeatyart.com.au My online store is LIVE! I'm really nervous about this, but I'm learning to push through the imposter syndrome 🙃 #gouache #watercolor #art #prints
Attempting to capture the delicious glow of the afternoon sunlight on the quince tree #gouache #pleinair #painting #sketchbook #ArtYear
My test prints arrived for my online store! I am thrilled! I'll let you know when the website is up and running if you'd like to check it out ☺️ #gouache #watercolor #painting #landscape
Planning my next #painting! This is a little red-browed finch that I snapped while it was snacking on grass seeds. I emphasized the vertical lines of the grass to contrast against the #horizontal line of of the finch. #BlueSkyArtShow #birds #sketchbook #ArtYear
Planning the next studio painting with little thumbnail sketches. This lets me iron out any composition problems before getting my precious 100% cotton watercolour paper out! Then I can enter the flow state while painting 😌 #painting #BlueSkyArtShow #Flowing #gouache #sketchbook #ArtYear
More #pleinair, more #cliffs, and more #ocean. It's the beginning of Autumn here in Australia, which is my favourite season. Cool, crisp air and warm sun ☀️ What's your favourite plein air season? #watercolor #art #painting #nature #landscape #ArtYear
